MUTUAL safety and discretion

Some recent events indicate a disregard for mutual safety and discretion, and that is very troubling.

Hobbyists understand the need for discretion, and thus when a provider has a need for heightened privacy, it is understood that faces may be cropped out of photos or obscured to achieve that desired level of privacy. Use of fake photos is never cool, no matter how close the approximation. Firstly, there are legal requirements of websites regarding the misappropriation of photos, and those websites have huge risk if they don't perform a basic due diligence regarding the ads on their sites. Secondly, practically every client's fear is bait/switch so when an ad captures their attention, they want to know the reality is the same as the advertisement. This is why hobbyists will often research before initiating a rendevous, thus TinEye receives a multitude of hits.

There are a significant number of very private providers who crop every photo at their shoulders, yet the photos are theirs and are accurate. No one complains about this. But use of a super model's photos as bait to lure a client is never appreciated, though in the moment the guy may not say anything. The time may even go well, but the let down from the first impression remains.

Open forums, like ECCIE, are for the express purpose of providing accurate information so that hobbyists can make informed decisions. Other sites also scour the internet trying to confirm so that their database is as accurate as it can be. When they find problem reports, they deal with these matters according to their own policies. I cannot imagine that any hobby-related site wants to receive notice from Playboy Magazine that an improper use of Playboy copyrighted material exists on their site. No one wants a DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) action taken against them.

The correct solution is to simply use photos of one's self adequately obscured to provide the desired level of privacy.

And regarding handles and names, TER has a specific practice of combining all handles and names of providers into a single profile. It is one of the reasons that TER's review policies are so specific, and makes TER so highly respected. TER, just like the clients, wants accurate information. Reviews are understood to be a singular perspective, that is why hobbyists read multiple reviews and info from multiple sites so as to have a more well-rounded understanding upon which to make their decisions.

We all understand that while occasionally a provider will change names for a good reason, the vast majority of those who change names and photos are because of bait/switch and cash/dash or robbery (or worse) scenarios.

The best providers are well-established with a selective clientele, a thorough screening process, accuracy in advertisement, and a genuine respect for confidentiality. Why would any provider want to offer less than this? And if this is not what a provider stands for, isn't it absolutely appropriate for a forum such as ECCIE to be the place where such information is provided?

MUTUAL safety is in the best interest of both the hobbyist and the provider. It should never be one-sided.
