Found new respect for Texas Drivers

OMG New York streets are DANGEROUS, they can't drive up here!!! I don't think they know what a STOP SIGN means (after watching a 4 way Stop sign for about 30 mins, only 1 out 46 cars actually stopped at the intersection) or what lane markers are for!!! I sure will be glad to get back home where it's safe, LOL

Doubt it, Texas has the worst so far. NYC has an ebb & flow that you don't need signs to drive. I thought texans could drive till I saw them on ice.

Based on how people drive in Germany and Brazil, and Mexico, Americans do not know how to drive.

But then, I once had a guy from Brazil quip that how could anyone have a wreck here, everyone drives between the lines here.

As far as Texans, merging and 4-way stops are two traffic encounters they have never mastered. (Don't get me talking about rain, ice is just a special case of hard rain.)

When I lived in San Antonio, radio station was reporting on number of wrecks after an ice storm. When they checked further, they realized that there was only a 10% increase in wrecks in the ice from what they saw anytime it rained down there.

Yes, the streets are dangerous, but not because of the driving, lol. NY'ers can SOOOOO drive. You are entitled to your thoughts and I am sure you are being sarcastic, but yes they are well aware of what a stop sign means, as well as red, yellow and green lights, most just choose to ignore them. Being the defensive driver sort that they are, you learn quickly to look out for the other guy, (not the case so much here). I see you have a stat for how many cars actually "stopped" at the intersection, just a question, how many accidents happened at said intersection?

HY is not the place you take your car out for a "Sunday Drive". Cars there are for expediency and transportation.

I have found that the "average" TX driver does well in clearly defined "drive here, this direction, this fast" spaces. They "generally" do not do well when placed in decision making spots. How many times have you seen people put on brakes in front of you in the "ACCELERATION" lane, lol, most think the car is an office or makeup studio on wheels.

I lived most of my "young adult" life in NYC and have always thought that if you learned to drive in NY, you could drive anywhere, well some years later in life my commute was on the "A5"..... the transition was seamless.

LOL, I would agree with that assessment, lol. When I was living in Europe (Germany) it could take up to a full year to get your drivers license. In order to pass the test you have to perform satisfactorily in ALL driving conditions. So multiple road tests were required. (night, day, fog, rain, dry, snow, ice, et al)
Not a lot of wrecks there either.....

I agree in regards to icy or rain slick roads, but this was bone dry roads. I happen to get to watch today with a school bus loading (40 feet away from that intersection) and there was NO respect for the buses Stop sign either. As for the lane markers, it was a 3 lane highway and it seemed that 1 lane was just not enough space for them (almost as if they were drunk).

In the other countries I've lived in, they would get a ticket for impeding traffic, even if traffic is traveling at speeds above the speed limit. Why? Because impeding traffic causes people to things that are more dangerous than speeding.

Of course NYers can drive better . . . they have more options . . . cab driver in NYC used sidewalks and alleys. He was better than Six Flags.
