Default Ode to a fallen enemy

Well... Sort of.

Came across this in my morning reading:

[...] for, slighted, often God confuses
The innocent with the evil-doer's fate.
Yet Vengeance, with one lame foot, seldom looses
Track of the outlaw, though she sets off late.

[...]

And courage cracked, and the strong men who frowned
Fiercest were felled, chins to the mirky ground.
But I, half-dead with fear,
Was wafted, airborn, clear

Of the enemy lines, wrappped in a misty blur
By Mercury, not sucked back, as you were
From safety and the shore
By the blind tide of war

Pay Jove his feast, then. In my laurel's shade
Stretch out the bones that long campaigns have made
Weary. Your wine's been waiting
For years: no hesitating!

Fill up the polished goblets to the top
With memory-drowning Massic! Slave, unstop
The deep-mouthed shells that store
Sweet-smelling oil and pour!

Then let us drink the wine in the Scythian fashion and speed our way into reverie.

The time is right, to ride into the battle
We're fighting hard... for the glory of Odin
Burn down their houses, with your warrior's rage
Slay the dogs and drink their warm blood

Warriors awake, look foward into distance
And ride into the next, hard battle

They run away into the forest
There you will find them soon
Arrows flying, swords clash
Their blood trickels away for als times

Warriors awake, look foward into distance
And ride into the next, hard battle

Kill their man, another one is coming
Kill their woman and their moral is broken
Prepare your man with blazing steel
A new enemy lets you no other chance
Many of the warriors are fallen, enter the holy halls
The gate is open wide, a toud hail is roaring
A golden shiver is falling down... it's Valhall

The dead warrior's sons carry on fighting
With iron hand and firm step they're defending their ground
Everyone knows, there's no return
The sons of dead warriors are fallen in the battle
They enter the holy halls
A gate opens wide, a loud hail is roaring
... it's Valhall

So are we drinking a toast to Dionysus or Aegir? Wine or beer? I’m down for either. In fact, I think I'll go ahead an start. After all, it is Saturday.
