Default Automatic Thread Closing

Why don't threads close automatically after 30 days? One would think the software could be easily programmed to do this.

Too many old threads are getting bumped by newbies and in some cases members who are not that new.

It seems like the Mods would have one less thing to worry about if this were instituted.

They may want to cut our pay if we don't have enough to do.

There is some leeway in the regular discussion boards, and should be decided case by case. Reviews should not go past 30 day, with a few exceptions

#13 - In our review forums, be mindful of the 'maturity' of threads you are posting to, ie. the date of the last item posted. We ask that you refrain from posting to a review in which the last post was made 30 or more days ago. Some exceptions may apply if you are providing relevant, valuable or updated information about the provider, but as a general rule of thumb, this can best be accomplished by writing a new review altogether and avoiding the bumping of old ones. This applies to our review forums, in particular, as discussion threads are often allowed to flow for an unspecified length of time.

As I suspected, the 30-day bump rule is somewhat arbitrary. Thanks for clarifying.
