Biden restocked already existing jobs before covid. 80% of NEW jobs went to illegals. Biden created the inflation bubble that hurt so many. Lets hear it for Trump's mandate where over 800 counties shifted to the right, none shifted left, and Trump won all seven swing states where the election is really fought.

Inflation was mainly caused by two things: 1. Supply chain problems caused by the pandemic that Trump let get out of control. 2. Putin invading the Ukraine. It's not Biden's fault or Trumps fault that a lot chickens got infected with bird flu causing the price of eggs to skyrocket.
You can not have a mandate when you do NOT win greater than 50% of the popular vote and those 7 swing states you referred to Harris lost to Trump by a mere 700,000 votes. Sorry no mandate.
A mandate would be like when Reagan beat Fritz Mondale or when Biden beat Trump in 2020.

Electoral vote Trump= 312 harris=226
Swing states Trump=7 harris=0
Senate GOP=53 democrats and indy =47
House GOP=218 democrats=215
Unless someone is totally delusional, this is a mandate.

... Surely looks like a MANDATE to me! ...
And to answer the OP's original question - there's not much
the Dems and liberals can do to re-gain power and somehow
re-gain the trust of the American people.
Short of a whole Democrat party Leadership overhaul. ...

You are correct. The Democratic party is in disarray, although it is likely they win back the House in 2026.
It all depends on Trump and his gang. It is much too early to cast judgement on his 2nd term. Need a minimum of 3 months in office, probably 6 months to fairly judge him.
His tariffs, which are on-again, off-again, are killing the stock market and, if enacted will cause prices on many products to rise and fuel inflation short-term. Trump believes long-term they will be for the better. Economists doubt it. If the economy nosedives (Trump even says a recession is not out of the question), Republican candidates will pay the price.
The DOGE, in my opinion, has been more negative than positive. Elon Musk on stage with a chainsaw. Not the way to win support. Many of the firings have been political, random with little logic behind them, and some are being contested in court as being illegal. I fully support cutting down the number of federal workers but the DOGE has attacked the problem incorrectly. Now Trump wants to use a scalpel instead of an axe. Good move.
I do support Trump on his immigration for the most part. I did not support Biden on this issue. Good intentions, very poor execution.
What I feared most about a Trump victory in 2024 was him trying to move as much power from the Judicial and Legislative branches to the Executive branch. I still believe that to be true. Again, several of his executive orders are being challenged in the courts.
Trump promised to end the war in Ukraine on day 1. Also lower food prices on day 1. And the inflation rate. Instead he has renamed the Gulf of Mexico, wants to have Canada as our 51st state, take over Greenland. And I'm still paying taxes on my Social Security. Priorities Donald, priorities.

Inflation began to rise before Russia invaded. That dog don't hunt. Inflation is also caused by too many dollars chasing too few goods. Yes, Trump did pay people for Civic and the lock downs but he was replacing paychecks. The democrats supported that as well. Now, the effects of Covid were being handled but not the lock downs. Biden paid people for nothing and saturated the economy with trillions of dollars.

The Biden economy added millions of jobs, kept Unemployment low, the stock market high. Where the democrats missed is with the southern border and letting transgendered males compete with biological females in sports events.
The price of eggs will not go down if all of the chickens get infected with bird flu. We will see how well Trump does with his tariffs. In Trumps first term he promised to do 6% GDP growth rate percentages but only sniffed 3% one time. So far the price of food is not getting cheaper.

That 3% or more that Trump got was a lot better than Obama. Remember him, Mr. "1% growth is the new normal." Or Mr. "He can't bring manufacturing jobs back, what's he gonna do, wave a magic wand?"

WELL FUCK ME! Look at that! The tariffs brought in more good paying jobs.
You really really need to stop listening to the lying press and learn to think for yourself. Trump had a much better economy than either of the Dems.
And yes, winning all 7 swing states, Kamala not gaining one county Biden didn't win, increasing votes amongst blue collar voters, black, hispanics and now Trump has won the majority of the 18-30 crowd?
That's a mandate. A huge mandate.

... A fair-minded post there, mate.
We'll just need to agree to disagree on some of it.

Trump never hit 3.0% GDP. 2.97% in 2018. Obama was 2.95% in 2015. Over his time in office Obama's GDP was 2.70, 1.56,2,29, 2.12, 2.52, 2.95, 1.82. Solid if not spectacular.
Trump did not win the majority of the vote but I agree his win was decisive, no matter how you look at it. But if a candidate can't win the majority of the vote, it is hardly a mandate. In many states and countries, such a result would result in a runoff election.

We just added 151,000 jobs and for the first time in 15 months the majority went to American citizens.
