Default Ukraine to hand over 50 % of rare earth minerals ?

That is what the new secretary of defense and Trump administration is asking for.

I guess to pay for the aid and assistance the US is providing ? On the surface it doesn't seem unreasonable. However it is not going over well at the Munich meetings. Ukraine has not agreed to sign a deal.

Discussions are ongoing.

50% sounds high and for how long? They should reimburse us principle plus interest over 5-10 years with what ever of value they have. They owe the EU at least as much as the US in support.

And that doesn't sound like ending the war...

Reality is the amount of money, mostly in weaponry, is a drop in the bucket of the staggering 8+ trillion trump added to the debt.

Spoils of war.
Which has been going on for thousands of years.

Really?

Seems like donny is gonna do this like Afganistan: bar those who are parties in the conflict from the negotiation room and leave the mess for someone else.

But he can't leave it to someone else since he promised he'd fix it DAY 1.

We are now approximately 648 hours into the 24 hours that Trump said he needed to end the Ukraine war.

Apparently your never read the Afgan/Taliban agreement which clearly stated that if the Taliban attacked US Troops or Afgan cities the US could cancel withdrawal. They (the Taliban) did so in May/June before Biden’s horrendous withdrawal. You liberals keep stating Biden couldn’t do anything because of the agreement, but somehow he delayed the withdrawal several months. Not only causing the lives of our Warfighters but millions of dollars in equipment

I’m pretty sure the spoils go to the winner. Trump wants Ukraine to lose and then pay the US for the pleasure of manufacturing the loss. Trumpy logic at its best.

Not to mention the excuse of not wanting NATO on Russian borders. If he gets Ukraine he'll have 3 NATO member countries directly on his border.

Apparently, you never kept up with the fact checking on this.

https://www.factcheck.org/2021/08/ti...m-afghanistan/

Of note....

April 18 2021 — In a released statement, Trump criticizes Biden’s Sept. 11 withdrawal deadline saying, “we can and should get out earlier.” He concludes, “Getting out of Afghanistan is a wonderful and positive thing to do. I planned to withdraw on May 1st, and we should keep as close to that schedule as possible.”

But that's rehashing bygones.

Looks like in Trump 2.0 team 'negotiations', the US has already conceded to Russia without even involving Ukraine in 'negotiations'.

I suppose the offer of laying claim to 50% of the strategic minerals in Ukraine is a good example of modern colonialism or something like that.

How much of those minerals are in areas currently occupied by Russian armed forces?

Perhaps a better question;
After the 'peace agreement' is ratified, how much of those minerals will be in areas designated as under Russian governance?

How about if Zelenskyy doesn't like the terms he can fend for himself for the next year, (If he lasts that long) and see how that goes. Thats one ungrateful SOB in my book. We've been carrying his ass for three years now, or he'd have been over run long ago. Now that the money is slowing down he's bitching to anyone that will listen, and thinking he should be setting terms. Maybe he should go back to his day job as a comedian....

You DO realize where the "aid money" went don't you? To US businesses to make arms and munitions. Plenty of the money from other countries also went directly to US companies and it's workers. That's because other countries bought US arms....you know the kind of thing where the money comes to the US. Because they believed they could count on the US to not go to complete shit in <2 months. I'm sure there are talks about fixing that situation going on all over the world with American Allies. That means less money coming into the US. More unemployment and a declining economy. Congrats, it's obviously what Trump wants.

Now for the completely obvious. If Zelensky doesn't like terms just cut him off. Then Russia takes all those precious minerals and builds it's wealth, the US gets nothing but a reputation as a traitor nation.

We've got not one, not two, but three complete idiots in the White House.
