No it is not. In fact we voted for these assholes representing us is their FUCKING job.

I'm just blown away that you think representatives being scared of going against the wishes of their constiutents is bad.

Oh NO!

It's like you think the government is performing some essential function that we can't live without. lol

The government could “shut down” and nobody but CNN would notice.

Exactly this. Representatives SHOULD be scared of their constituents and held accountable if they go against those who put them in office. X is a game changer. An uncensored tool of the people to redress grievances en masse, more powerful than a standing militia. The pen is truly mightier than the sword.

LOL

Nope:

The proposed December 2024 temporary funding package included a 3.8 percent pay raise, which would increase their annual salary from $174,000 to $180,600 if approved. Under the Ethics Reform Act of 1989 Congress is allowed to vote for a yearly pay adjustment that can't go below zero or be more than 5 percent, so 40 percent would be legally impossible.

But the real question I want answered is why did Elon (who has large business interests in China) and Trump want the restrictions on US investments in China removed? Is being the richest person on earth and buying the US presidency not enough for fan boy? I thought Trump was going to be tough on China

They deserve a pay cut, not an increase. Everyone else is suffering from their bad governance blowing up the cost of living, they should too.

... Don't want to see Government investments in other nations
being restricted - as sometimes those investments are used
as negotiating tools. ... Musk and Trump are keenly aware of this,
as sometimes it takes salt to win the day in negotiation.

So, often times the SALT is more mighty than the pen and sword! ..

Ya know, cable is basically useless. I’d have canceled it years ago but she doesn’t want an ugly antenna on the roof for watching football, which is the only time the cable box setting on the tv is ever used. Tried one of those indoor amplified antenna and the reception sucked. Maybe one day I’ll climb up there and mount one while she’s at work, until then it’s ~$200/month for a service that’s used a couple hours a week for a couple month a year.

What you've described is a simple bait and switch con.

Something Trusk are quite skilled at.

The title of the OP indicates that Sapper blames the democrats for shutting down the government but the comments of the conservatives amongst us indicate to me that it’s the Republicans who actually want the government to fail.

Are conservatives the new purveyors of insurrectionary anarchism?

Anarchy appears to be the purpose behind their cause.
