That was the liberal talking point, Gristle. I never had the patience to study and compare USMCA and NAFTA in detail. Did you?
Not easy to measure this stuff. As with all trade agreements, the costs/benefits to producers are highly localized, whereas the costs/benefits to consumers are widely dispersed. Are the livelihoods/incomes of thousands of Minnesota farmers worth Americans paying 2 cents more for a stick of butter? A good economist might figure it out. But not people who just want to trash Trump or praise him.
If you want a valid talking point, try this one: if the USMCA was the greatest trade deal ever, and it's still in effect today, then why do we need to renegotiate it?
