Guns don't just run around shooting people; someone has to pull the trigger.

What do almost all of those pulling the triggers in these mass killings have in common? Mental issues, so maybe we should be asking what causes these issues.

If these weapons were not available to the public we wouldn't have near the amount of mass shootings. Fact!
There's no reason for the public to have these weapons. None

Your opinion doesn't doesn't make it fact.

Kent State is a bit different than Spectre gunships over Ross Park Mall.

As far as the military firing on civilians. I refer to the Kent State Massacre.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kent_State_shootings

Twenty-eight National Guard soldiers fired about 67 rounds over 13 seconds, killing four students and wounding nine others, one of whom suffered permanent paralysis. Students Allison Krause, 19, Jeffrey Miller, 20, and Sandra Scheuer, 20, died on the scene, while William Schroeder, 19, was pronounced dead at Robinson Memorial Hospital in nearby Ravenna shortly afterward.
All those rounds fired and only 13 hits. That's not such good shooting for supposedly trained Military.

How is someone supposed,to respond to tht comment in the context of this discussion?

Off topic, bud.

I remember Kent State quite vividly. Domestic shootings become even worse when they’re carried out at the orders of a military commander.

I’ve made my position clear on assault rifles over the years.

We not only need to ban the,, but prohibit their manufacture. The semis used in cartel activities in Mexico all come from here.

My comment was off topic. Think about how you responded to it, lol.

Not one valid post has been made to not ban assault weapons.
Why?
Because there is none.
Plenty other useful arms more suited for civilian use. No need for civilians to own them. Zero
Time to stop the carnage and shred these weapons for scrap.

You haven't posted a single valid reason why they should be banned.

These weapons won't be banned. I agree they are unnecessary for the average Joe, but banned or not, the people who use them for malice will do so whether they are banned or not.

Weapons are no different than pussy or anything else you want, illegal or not, if you have the money, you can find it and buy it.

What carnage? If you somehow got rid of all OTHER weapons, gun crime would drop over 98%. That’s leaving in rifles in general, if you got rid of non-AR rifles leaving only the AR platform available, the number goes well north of 99%. The actual number of gun crimes committed with legally owned AR rifles is so infinitesimally small that it’s, like your feigned, uninformed indignation, completely irrelevant.

And what about knives? How do we stop knife carnage, since they’re responsible for more than 4x the homicides of rifles? I’m more than happy to eat a Cajun Ribeye like a savage, but that’s just me. Others may not be as inclined to do the same, for the sake of public safety.

Finally some accurate info. FBI last report 2020, 13,620 gun related murders, 3% committed with long guns. 409 if you don't have calculator. Now remove the gang/drug related murders.
20 million of your so called assault weapons owned in the USA. Thats .0000204% of owned weapons.

By the way gun related deaths double in 2021, Biden's first year in office
Think of the bright side, if you don't get your laughs from the "Comedy" thread, you can always come here and read WD and YR's postd

To do so would cause a loss of the social contract formed in the declaration of Independence and further fleshed out in the Constitution.

Lucky for the American citizen our Founders were a hundred times more astute than you. In fact, you're EXACTLY the type of person that the 2A was written to protect against. You think you know better than your neighbors what they need. Your hubris is amusing.

Its almost as if your brain is breaking through 50 years of Democrat brainwashing. You can see the truth, but you still think you know better.

I'm still waiting for someone to actually produce a petition so we can comment on that.

While that's being drafted, let's also start a petition to eliminate swords, battle axes and bows/arrows which have been killing folks for thousands of years. /s

This is the data driven approach. Handguns kill more people every year, and combined for the last decade AR-15 or "assualt weapons" don't even make a dent in that number.
