North Korean troops are now in Kursk to support Russian forces. South Korea likely to respond.
South Korea Could Send Advisors, Weapons To Ukraine Over North Korean Troop Movements
The first North Korean troops are expected to arrive in Russia's Kursk region tomorrow, Ukraine's Defense Intelligence Director told us.
The first North Korean troops are expected to arrive in Russia’s Kursk region tomorrow to help defend it against Ukraine’s ongoing incursion, the head of the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence Directorate (GUR) told The War Zone Tuesday. That information comes as Seoul is considering sending advisors and heavy weapons to Ukraine in response to Pyongyang’s deployment to Russia of upwards of 12,000 soldiers, including elite special operations units.
Tuesday.
“If the illegal military cooperation between North Korea and Russia continues, (South Korea) will not stand by but respond firmly in collaboration with the international community,” Principal Deputy National Security Adviser Kim Tae-hyo said, according to Yonhap. He warned of “phased measures” in response to the level of their military ties.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis told Politico on Sunday that it’s time for European countries to revisit French President Emmanuel Macron’s idea of deploying troops to Ukraine.
“If information about Russia’s killing squads being equipped with North Korean ammunition and military personnel is confirmed, we have to get back to ‘boots on the ground’ and other ideas proposed by Macron,” Landsbergis told the news outlet.
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol spoke with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on Monday. Rutte urged Seoul to send a delegation to NATO “to share data and suggested boosting cooperation in the defense industry and security dialogue among South Korea, Ukraine and NATO to respond if the North sends more soldiers to Russia.”

Well we are well on our way to a version of the Spanish Civil War... Both teams are getting to try our their A-teams, tactics and equipment wihtout a full scale war. This time we play the broke ass Brits who will either have to cede the next combat to the Chicoms, or likely we will go further into debt in the fight and lose anyway. Though unlike the brits there is no Arsenal of democracy coming to save us...

Things are escalating for sure. The deployment of North Korean troops into the field gives South Korea not just an incentive to participate but a legitimate legal excuse to do much more than they are now. The deployment of S. Korean assets makes it more likely that other NATO countries will get involved as well.
P.S. I think S. Korea is the current arsenal of democracy. Although China’s manufacturing sector surpasses pretty much everyone at this point. This is one of the reasons why we need to restore our manufacturing infrastructure. We need to learn from our strategic partners on how they can achieve the industrial efficiency that they have in shipbuilding especially.

Horse manure.
Shirley you don’t think Little Rocket Man putting boots on the ground to support Putin is a discussion for the sandbox, do you? Let’s see, Kim and Putin … who’s missing from that threesome, hmmm? Erdogan? Orban? Is there someone I missed?
Not only will South Korea respond (legally like txdot pointed out) but there likely will be pressure on the US too. (Right before the election…. Hmmmm,)
Geopolitical conflict in which we the American taxpayers are directly involved is as political as it gets. Just sayin’

O I C, time travel and rulz for thee only?!?
So the OP title is: "North Korean troops are now in Kursk...", but the first line in the article is: "The first North Korean troops are expected to arrive in Russia's Kursk..."
Which is it?
Getting to the entre: the article states: ...“If the illegal military cooperation between North Korea and Russia continues, (South Korea) will not stand by but respond firmly in collaboration with the international community,”...
How can South Korea "respond" and "collaborate", if doing such is "illegal" for the North and it's "international community"? BTW: According to whom exactly?
Regardless: does this mission statement sound " illegal" by those standards?: "XXXX’s essential and enduring purpose is to safeguard the freedom and security of all its members. It does this through political and military means, ensuring the collective defence of all Allies, against all threats, from all directions..."

South Korea should deploy a huge number of troops to Ukraine. It would be a power play. The US already defends South Korea so there’s no chance of invasion. It would place the Russians in the worst situation. They are suffering an unexpected number of losses and are generally relying on conscripts. The S Korean troops are well trained and supplied. N Korean troops are good but will be less dedicated. The cost for N Korea and Russia would be significant.

Sure, let’s expand the clusterfuck. These politicians, and those that support them, need to spend one day downrange. The world would be a better place for it. They think it’s a video game and need a heaping dose of what it really looks like. They won’t tho, there’s way to much money involved. Their manila envelopes from KBR and Raytheon lobbyists are all that matters, and you lemmings are their enablers.

I think that South Korea will use this as an opportunity to get some real intelligence on how effective the North Korean military really is. See what kind of weapons and tactics they use and how effective they are. This will be done through the use of special forces and other specialized units rather than a general deployment. I think that this is also a pretext to allow the Korean military to move to integrate with other NATO forces and intelligence.
I also believe however that this will be a pretext for the resupply of weapons and ammunition for the Ukrainian military. Something that the South Koreans are quite good at manufacturing.
