Default GOP sits on its hands...again

Apparently the GOP has not yet learned this lesson. Our federal government cannot operate without a speaker in the house to pass any legislation. Oh and it seems as though the world is on fire, but thanks to dear old Matt Gaetz, and the GOP's 8 assholes have decided to cripple government.

And of course the freedom caucus that have decided to control all of Congress and hold the world and the United States as a hostage, just as Hamas is holding hostages, won't be happy until they finger point, shit their pants, and have another 15 votes, to hold Kevin as the next speaker - yet again.

The GOP does what it does - squeals like a little bitch, sits on its hands, and gets nothing done

fixes and reform has to happen. when will that happen?

if not now, when?

answer: for those vested in power; its never.

these crises that pop up unexpected appear to be too convenient.

did they know the armenia/azerbiajan was going to blow up this month? prolly. they didn't try very hard tho.

hamas/israel. did anyone see that one coming. there are those who did and kept quiet.

President Ronald Reagan

Joe Biden came to office with an $11 trillion plan to bankrupt America.

Fortunately Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin held the damage back to $5 or $6 trillion.

And then Kevin McCarthy came in behind them with House Republicans and actually clawed back $1.5 trillion of the $5 trillion+ in unfunded legislation passed by Democrats in 2021 and 2022!

Thank you Kyrsten Sinema, Joe Manchin, Kevin McCarthy and House Republicans! You're American Heroes!

There's not a whole lot the House of Representatives can do. Hopefully the Biden Administration will work to end the carnage and keep Iran out of this war. However given the Administration's record in bringing peace to Ukraine, prospects aren't good for that.

Yes Waco Kid. Unfortunately Democratic Party politicians have no fear of $2 trillion deficits, a $25.5 trillion net national debt, or the $1.3 trillion per year we'll be spending just on interest expense if rates normalize around 5% per annum. And perhaps it makes sense for them. They figure they can spend like drunken sailors to buy voters and special interests. And then hopefully Americans won't have to pay the piper for their profligate spending until they're no longer in office. Admittedly a lot of Republicans think similarly, but the Democrats are worse.

Nappy time - lol!

while the house doesnt have an elected speaker, Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) is serving as interim speaker.

according to a news article i read last week, mccarthy submitted a list of other reps to be interim spkr should he not be able to act as speaker. apparently, it's something all new spkrs of the house have to do, like the presidential order of succession, in case he dies or is incapacitated.

regardless, until they get their shit together (yep, they're kinda like diarrhea right now), it's gonna be a messy shit show for a while. (republicans currently have one of the slimmest margins in the house in years).

Speaker pro tem has no authority to run the house or call the house to order allowing them to conduct business. Until a speaker is elected, the house remains shut down except to elect another speaker.

This is a FEATURE, not a BUG.

Boo hoo, the government can't pass any new laws making Americans criminals, it can't send MORE money to Ukraine, it can't get get a budget passed... whoops it hasn't done that properly in over a decade either.

So by your definition, the function of the GOP (who is in control of the house) is simply to cut spending, vs. creating legislation to better the USA?

HMMM lets look at what they have done:

What about changing some allocation of funds for GOP ideas or agendas. + NOPE. savings ZERO

Lets kill the IRS new agents. Tried and failed. savings ZERO

Passed a bill on competition with China-boogey man legistlation.
savings- ZERO

Expressing the Sense of Congress Condemning the Recent Attacks on Pro-Life Facilities, Groups, and Churches -Savings ZERO

Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act- Savings Zero.

Expand the big lie with: Establishing a select subcommittee on "weaponization of the federal government". savings Zero.

Prohibiting oil sales from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to China; which I agree with, BUT ....savings ZERO.

HR1 Lower energy costs bill, but never made it through the senate- fail and savings - ZERO.

Besides all the nothing burgers above; the GOP has made abortion the main theme of eliminating womens biological rights, and making things like day after pills, family planning, or consulting illegal- even some states saying if you go out of state, we as a state will impede your rights of free travel in the USA and prosecute you for anything you do in another state where it's legal. WTF GOP??

so a quick summary- No bills to address costs and reductions. As a matter of fact, they kicked the can down the street with another CR, and did nothing to address the so called border issues where they found concensus. Its so fun to watch the pearl clutching of the GOP, and gasps of them being able to DO NOTHING.

How the fuck do they resolve that you ask? They vote out their own speaker. What a bunch of pant loads of useless, feckless pieces of shit, who when asked why they did it, have a bunch of stupid reasons that they are actually a dysfunctional group of morons who would rather strip women of rights they acquired over the past 70 yrs, and eliminate the rights of voters, and then eliminate fair elections with absurd gerrymandering where supreme courts get involved in redrawing cause the GOP is just too damn inept/ or rather corrupt to do anything about.

Now look at how the DEMS hold that assclown in NJ accountable with the gold bars in his pockets.....they tell him to get lost.

NOT The GOP. They feel that bringing in a mouth-piece liar, twice impeached, 4 times indicted, 91 counts law breaker, felony facing fraudster, Solicitor of porn stars, payoff king, and molestor of women, would surely be a better choice to air out the family issues!

Holy fucking cow kicked in the head, stupid fucking asshole ideas can one group come up with at a time. an Intervention of stupidity needs to happen within the rank and file, where the GOP comes up with ideas. It's not Jordan, Biggs, or Scalise, nor assclowns like Ted Cruz (and his ugly wife), nor the heretics of MAGA morons like Gaetz, Boeber, or the highly spirited group of irritable bowel syndrome known as the GOP>

Apparently, they have learned nothing in 3 yrs except that they are finally gonna get the DNC for impeaching the Mean tweet guy who led an insurrection against his own country.

Even McCarthy on Jan 7th, and 8th, was right that day- so was Lady Graham, "we had a great ride with Trump, but count me out". They realized that he was the last of them who was bravado said what they all wanted to say, but knew it would land them in jail.

Bravo GOP, Bravo!

They can't govern. They have no ideas and they lack any guidance. They condemned themselves to Trumpism. And when they had the full govt, they didn't save any money at all. In fact the ballooned the deficit and debt with unnecessary tax cuts. Those are creating great deficits than we had under Obama. Oh that's right, his deficits were small even coming out of a recession/damn near depression left him.by the prior republican president.

That's why Tiny has zero credibility when it comes to his continuous hate on democrat’s economic policies. When republicans (each of the last 4 presidents) left their democrat successor a shit economy and recession or near recession, it's “coincidence” and when the democrat fixes the shit economy its republican policy under Reagan that reverberates through to that president’s success. Tiny is the master of nonsensical drivel on that subject n

Venerable former poster What The Fuck (aka WTF), whose political beliefs are to the left of yours, agrees with that and so do I. The combination of a Democratic President and a Republican House of Representatives historically has proved best at controlling deficits.

The power of the purse and of the power of government should be exercised closest to the people when feasible, at the state and local level. Reducing the rate of growth in federal spending is an admirable goal, especially considering how wasteful and inefficient the federal government is compared to state and local governments. Well, at least compared to my state and local government.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates the debt-limit deal negotiated by McCarthy will save $1.5 trillion to $2.1 trillion over ten years. The number probably will be closer to $1.5 trillion, unless some of the cuts are extended:

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/31/u...-spending.html

That's a lot!

The Republicans actually did succeed in cutting Biden's additional funding of $80 billion to the IRS by $20 billion.

The majority of reasonable people, including moderate Democrats, would agree the cuts overall made sense in view of our national debt. In addition to the cut in IRS funding, the bill held nondefense discretionary spending increases to 1% per year for two years. Adults aged 50 to 54 (except veterans and the homeless) who don't have children living at home will now have to work or look for work to receive food stamps. Energy projects including the Mountain Valley Pipeline will have to be approved quicker. The Biden Administration actually already agreed to do this for Joe Manchin, in return for his support for legislation, but later reneged. And payments on student loans will begin again.

As to your list, Democrats control the Presidency and the Senate. Republicans only have a 9 vote edge in the House. The Republicans can't accomplish a lot. It's remarkable that McCarthy and House Republicans were able to negotiate cuts almost equal to 30% of the $5 trillion+ in unfunded spending passed by Democrats in 2021 and 2022!

I mostly agree with you on that. It would certainly help the GOP at the ballot box if it backed off on abortion. However, there are people who believe abortion is murder, and who don't want their tax dollars spent to kill babies. So I don't favor using government money for abortions. There are plenty of billionaire Democrats donating to Planned Parenthood and the like, who can and will take up the slack.

You're like Blackman. You watch too much MSNBC. He won't admit it though. He refuses to come out of the closet and publicly express his love for Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell. The Democratic Party is just as adept at fucking with rights of voters and gerrymandering as the Republican Party.

Menendez, like Santos, says he isn't going anywhere. Democratic Party history is littered with the legends of corrupt politicians. Blackman's home state has more than its fair share, like Edwin Edwards and Ray Nagin.

It's amazing to me that he's a viable candidate, let alone leading the polls. It just goes to show you how rightly afraid Republicans are of Democratic Party politicians.
