On the bottom left of a post or the top right of a private message there is a little red triangle. Hit that and it sends an alert to all of modville where they can all see it, including admins.

The above link starting with the third post is the guidance as given by the ones that own the site and their desire on how they desire it to be maintained.
As Staff, it is our responsibility to do our best to make sure posts are within these guidelines.
We do miss some stuff, but it is not intentional and moreso the fact that there are a ton of posts for us to try and read over each and every day.
A post doesn't have to be RTM'd for us to catch it if it's outside the guidelines. When we do take action, the first step is a written warning. If the behavior continues, then the point system will eventually correct the behaviors one way or the other.
If a member has received an infraction (written or pointed) that they feel is unfair, they can RTM the actual infraction pm notification and every Staff member will see it and evaluate it.
If a member is Banned for any particular reason, they will receive notification of the reason for the Ban and duration each time they log into the Site.
I would strongly recommend that members discontinue with the veiled insults and disrespect pointed at our Staff members.

I appreciate your response. And I appreciate your efforts on the site. I think what you’re seeing is a lot of frustration with one particular mod. I’m not sure it’s a good idea to pick local people to moderate locally. Some of these guys become friends and you end up with Mods that aren’t neutral.
Full disclosure I don’t know this, it just sure seems like it.

This is 100% true and the site was also 100% better before this happened. As I am sure many would agree with me. Now my biggest gripe is that said mod has gotten a ridiculous amount of complaints but nothing has changed! When 1 single person can bring down the morale and happiness of a whole site it probably should be addressed rather than let it fester.

Local Or Out Of State Mods? It's The Temperament & (Sure) Member Posters Who Set The Tone......

The opposite can be true too. It's not about the "location" (out of state or local) of the mod/admin, it's about his temperament and judgement and essentially how he handles his job as mod/admin....
Think back to the late 2004 ASPD era wherein "the Texas mods" became quite controversial "banning" local PGH members with impunity, and for specious reasons. What happened? The whole PGH hobby-scene gravitated to Indys (quickly) in early 2005 right after Indys created it's public and Vouched forums. Many of the first threads on Indys revolved around "the Texas mods" and how they had essentially ruined ASPD with all their random "bannings" and such....
Who was the single most Reasonable, Level-Headed, Judicious, and Common-Sense mod/admin all during the late ASPD era, and before the local-hobby Exodus to Indys? Laserface, a local PGH mod/admin, the only local PGH mod (I believe) besides the also "judicious" local mod Speedracer69. (Speedracer69 became a well-liked, well-respected admin on Indys and I understand Laserface was offered an admin-position there and turned it down.) I never read Laserface "overreact" to a members posts and his posts were always calm and diplomatic and judicious. Why? Probably because he understood the PGH hobby-scene better than any of the ASPD Texas mods. Laserface was essentially "the model" of how a hobby-board mod/admin should "judiciously" do his job. Tough but fair. No random bannings and "favoritism" in threads which often become "controversial" and involve (why not?) errrant bickering....
Mods/admins of Eccie now? I avoid a lot of controversy by simply not reading, and certainly not posting in, the "politics" section. Any hobby-person can avoid a lot of trouble/drama by simply not reading/responding in that forum. The (very) positive thing about that forum (for Eccie broadly) is that it "collects" and "isolates" some of the serial-posters who would otherwise antagonize other posters in other forums and all over legit hobby-topic threads. So keep the "politics" forum. Group all the drama-posters all together in one forum and let them bicker and antagonize one another. Greatly improves all the other forums of the site....
Stick, as much as anyone can, to "hobby" topics and don't get involved in "politics" threads. But keep the "politics" section so many of those guys can spend most of their time bickering and antagonizing each other in that specific forum. It temperamentally "cleans up" all the other actual hobby-related forums and threads....

I have 7 points. Not a flex. Use that to either challenge or confirm some of your assumptions whether you like me, hate me, agree with me or disagree with me.

From all across the board the same things are being said. A while back staff took a much stronger stance with enforcing the guidelines. It's board wide. Every forum and subforum. Staff cites it's what the owners
want. Lord knows I've had my crusades. But it's their site.
Fairness?? It's a fuck board. I myself have to remind myself of that from time to time....wd

First and foremost I like you HDGristle.
Secondly,
It is not fair across the board at least mod wise and it's been pointed out here in many, many threads. 1 in particular is looking for ways to hand out points and it should be addressed. (maybe it has recently but if not it should be) When someone gets points for "being slightly off topic" Or "quacking" and other members can guess which mod gave you the points it should speak volumes. I know I'm repeating myself but i've been on this board a long time and it has NEVER been as petty as it is with this specific mod and we all know it. DJ has been lenient and has given us examples and reasons. Gman has always been reasonable as well. Hell until DJ posted I had no clue you could rtm a mod giving you points. That info alone is extremely valuable.

I hear you. But everyone across the board is complaining about the increase in infractions. It's not just one staff member trust me. I find myself triple checking posts before I post. Still I stay on the band line.
The owners are running it the way they want. We have to adjust. Participation is way down. No denying that.

I am not sure about you or others only from what is implied and told to me in PM's but all of my infractions (and the people who reached out to me) came from the same person. Now I have been on this site a long time as well as ASPD and Indy's and never had infractions prior to this. I don't come here to start shit, I rarely post in the political area, I try to help people, and when you get points by telling someone "check out Erie or Canada" yeah that's reaching at straws and there is no way the site owners are telling mods to give points for something so miniscule.

All of my points came from the same person. He's also been fantastic about explanations as long as I didn't go at him like the entitled, self-centered asshole that I am.
Just saying

Who would think that the frequent posters of a escort review board would be a tough group to get in line and play well with others with slightly anti social behavior...
I would hate the job of a mod and frankly don't know how or why they do it, I appreciate them and think the cards are stacked against them.
I do not have any stake in this discussion other than the perceived notion that participation is down and that members feel driven away. I have not noticed the lack of discussion outside of its mid summer and people are having too much fun to post - but I have noticed the inconsistency of moderation driving some members away or causing in fighting - and that stinks.
Be consistent and fair and leave it at that as a mod - but the posters stop rolling around in the mud with each other and the trouble makers will stay in their lanes.... Or self bump their own threads end on end. Like it is their own personal blog as they already seem like they are talking to themselves anyways, ignore it and move on. At least that is what I would tell myself if I was a good person....

What's funny is that no one has named names, but it's well known who everyone is talking about. It's almost as if- if you know, you need to stay quiet, or it will cost you. Lol
And naming the notorious posting member who hits the RTM button also can't be named, yet we all know who it is.
There is no room for anyone else's opinion which is contrary to that poster, which seems very odd, as this forum was set up to share ideas and information.
While I applaud the forums for info, I'm no longer participating in the BS Forum where one person just sits and blasts. The ignore button is quite a useful tool. One suggestion to the mods, be fair and be transparent. If you're giving out points from any warning, it should come in the email so it's known. I had no idea I had any points till I had an infraction (which I think was a subjective interpretation anyway). I'm not bashing, just suggesting that there be clarity if your issuing points.

I agree with the above statement, I have put about 20 on ignore and it’s much more tolerable to read posts now. Hopefully they have also put me on their ignore list.

I’m one point away from being banned… so I will be very particular about what I say…
This conversation needs to be had. The points I received on some of the topics are absolutely down right outrageous… and it is from the same mod… and I’m going to guess it’s the same mod that I’m sure others around here are dealing with. Of course I can’t confirm or deny who it was but…. Just sayin…
I will say this… we can’t even have a conversation without being told to get back on topic. We’re adults trying to have damn conversation and it’s not derailing any member from deriving the information that they came there for. If they don’t like what is being said…. You could ignore and move on.
Or even better! Join in the conversation that adults are having. Instead we’re being bombarded with keeping a topic… and 9 times out of 10 the topic is usually what we are discussing… just from a different approach or angle.
I don’t think this is an attack on staff. But this is definitely frustration that is being had by forum members.
