I get checked routinely at night at bdd for belt loops & zippers on all of my shorts & pants & they are never 'basketball' or 'athletic' & always have zippers/belt loops. During the day I have no problem.

I once had to explain to the door girl what Dockers were when trying to describe my shorts as Dockers, yet she still insisted on feeling the fabric & checking for a zipper & belt loop. Meanwhile Gramps is already in the club with the equivalent of silk boxers on...

There is definitely a racial comonent to it (i.e. a black guy must be wearing athletic shorts) as in 20 years I've seen more black & hispanic guys get checked/denied admission but it's not exclusively racial. There is a sigh with the dress code behind the door girls but parts of it are ambiguous & selectively inforced.

The Dickey Doo old men get to where whatever they want to wear, and that is it any club not just BDD.

Yes of course. And when I go golfing I wear my basketball outfit, my golf attire is reserved for my SC outings so I can get turned away at the door and therefore that means I have to wear my office attire to hit the little white ball around. It all makes perfect sense to the door girls. If confused they will explain it to you.

On these hot summer nights, I think you should wear bulky blue jeans and a long sleeve sweater over a shirt with a tie.

Or, if you really want to wear athletic shorts and sandals, just wear an old man mask and put a pillow underneath your shirt.
