Default greatest guitar player

we all have had this discussion thru the years

who is the greatest guitar player? jimmy hendrick? eddie van halen? slash?

you might be surprised who both jimmy and eddie said was...

roy clark...... probably a name most younger guys never heard of

he was a country singer and player, probably best remembered by the tv show hee haw

take the time to watch this clip from another old show, the odd couple

this guy played like noone I have ever seen and he was just as good on the banjo and fiddle

his hand speed is amazing

that video of Roy Clark was impressive. My tastes are a little different but Yngwie Malmsteen is one of my favorites.

Or John Norum

or Paul Gilbert

I'd say it also depends on what genre. Roy Clark is good, but I doubt he makes the list for "Metal Guitarists". Although it would be entertaining to see him playing Slayer's "Reign In Blood" on Banjo. Would've made Hee-Haw reeeeeeeally interesting.

Of the same era, jerry Reed was supposed to be phenomenal. He is not the greatest but i like me some Stevie Ray Vaughan from time to time.

I saw Derek Trucks live in Erie PA years and years ago in a room with maybe 20 people. He was incredible. If you don't know him check him out.

Going way back, Les Paul started playing and mixing music back in the 50's. A lot of musicians were happy to play with him at the Iridium.

Also have to mention Carlos Santana, he has a unique style that stands out the moment you hear one of his songs. Clapton of course is another one. His MTV Unplugged set was epic.
