I have always had success with the mutual respect approach. Even with a SW in the car, being at minimum business-like has worked out. You're overthinking this. At the end of the day, you're asking this on a whoreboard. The core issue lies within yourself and only you know the real issue. You may not know "why" you do the things you do, BUT there is always a core issue. That's what they have Professionals for. Oftentimes we bury the core issue so far down (to cope) and replace it with other behaviours that it becomes a way of life.
