I worked on rotary wing but yeah, we had a red and yellow zone for take off and landing. The pilot wouldn’t even start the engines with people swarming around like that. A tail rotor to the head at 250 rpm is gonna leave a BIG mark.
Certainly fixed wing has a danger zone if front of the fans, although I’m not sure what it is. That’s not just to protect people, if a wrench or screwdriver left on the cowl gets sucked in it’ll trash a couple million dollar engine. Enough birds can do it as well. Checking for that is part of the preflight.
My problem here is that there’s pics of it taxing and taking off so I dunno. Isn’t this the flight that people hung onto and eventually fell? Not necessarily a bad thing, a little chlorine for the gene pool.
