Default Leisurely travels

Where are your favorite places to vacation and why?

On the flip side what places do you avoid at all costs?

Pros and cons of staying in a privately owned rental versus a chain hotel or timeshare?

Do you like to plan out every little moment or do you just kind of wing it once you're there?

I need some leisurely travels in my life!

Pay attention to the news that others don't pay attention to to, history, culture, etc. Create a bucket list. From your list, something will burn inside you, get under your skin. Then you will know where to go.

Git in the car, git on the plane, git on the train, git on the bus and go!

In Europe there is a thing called a "rail pass" where you can go anywhere you want for a length of time for one price. AMTRACK is starting the same thing. That sounds SERIOUSLY interesting to this kid!

AMTRAK has had a rail pass in the past. By Region, or combine regions...when rail travel in the US becomes as cheap as Europe, I would consider it...and when it becomes faster...almost 5 hours from Lee's Summit to Kirkwood, it is cheaper than driving right now for a nonrefundable...$37 each way.

$500 . . . 10 days of travel over a 30 day period, seems a bit prohibitive and limited. Might warrant a second or third thought! Definitely going to need an itinerary in your mind!

Food for thought . . . No idea if this is still available BUT 30 years ago one could rent an exotic car take it on the German Autobahn and let it go! Just make sure you got LOTS of life insurance . . . there is no such animal as a "fender bender" on the Autobahn! 120MPH is medium speed!

Airbnb for personal travel. I spend enough time in hotels for business.

A few years back I used to take the train from downtown KC to St. Louis. I could work and catch the train back. It was a lot easier on me instead of the additional drive. After a while, I started driving to Lees Summit to board the train. From Down Town to KC was a lot of time, so it was a better trip.

I have taken a few trips to South Colorado and then pick up a car and go fishing. Great trip and you aren't worn our from the drive.

Lately: western Kansas.
Why?: the sunsets
Why2?: cause she invited me
When?: 4th trip is 1st week Aug 21
Other than hitting the butcher shop for a couple coolers full of cow, we wing it.
Privately owned place we have keys to.
