I have called the Cops exactly once. On behalf of a Co-worker who was being stalked and threatened, in real time. Cops were on the scene in minutes, but they didn't catch the Criminal. We gave them his name, but they were too lazy and indifferent to pursue him. ''If he returns, call us back, we'll warn him that he is tresspassing''.

Gee, thanks Officer.
Why? Look at all the violent crime they spent time on in Houston, Dallas, etc and the DAs just let the criminals go? The cop aren't going to risk arresting people.

Quick story, my father drove home to find a guy stealing his lawnmover out of his garage. Struggled with him, lost the lawnmover. Got the guys license plate number. Police show up and they take my father to a photo lineup. He picks the guy out twice. Cops won't arrest the guy because he lives like two blocks inside another municipality.

However the police will only get out of this mess once they reform their union rules to make it easier to get rid of those bad actors in the police ranks. It's simply too hard to hold police accountable for their bad actions.
You're kidding? New York City, Seattle, Minneapolis, and Los Angeles all cut back on police budgets and that's just from memory. Or is your fade "they didn't completely defund the police they just cut back or reapportioned?"

The number of "bad cops" is ridiculously small compared to the number of "bad criminals."

And don't forget the crime rates skyrocketing do to the lack of Politicos backing police and rule of law

If by Politico's you mean Democrats, I totally agree but if you mean Republicans, this ridiculous notion that Democrats are pushing that it is Republicans who defunded the police, then put down the kool aid.

All those people last summer holding signs that said Defund the Police, were not Republican voters. This latest crime wave is because of Democrats calling for cancellation of qualified immunity, stopping police form being pro-active like Chicago telling it's police not to chase suspects on foot or in their patrol cars. I guess they expect the criminals to walk up to the cops and turn themselves in. Not to mention no bail reform and Democrat DA's not prosecuting criminals.

That is what is causing the latest crime wave and it's going to continue because Democrats have no answer as to what they are going to do about it, none.

On a national scale very few cities cut their police budgets. Most cities increased their budgets. In fact going forward I expect those cities that did cut their police budgets to change course quickly. https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2...ice-defunding/

Look, I agree that police have a hard job. They get pretty good pay for it and a lifetime pension. A Study by the Department of Justice indicates that Police are living longer in retirement not shorter.

https://www.ojp.gov/ncjrs/virtual-li...ning-long-life

For this pay and pension I want accountability. And right now we don't have it. Qualified immunity and police union rules on arbitration block any real accountability.

The U.S. high court’s continual refinement of an obscure legal doctrine has made it harder to hold police accountable when accused of using excessive force. https://www.reuters.com/investigates...munity-scotus/

only the Democratic controlled ones that all were nearly burned to the ground over false anger over fake "racism" by glorifying criminal black thugs who resisted arrest.

will you take the TWK challenge? show me one Republican controlled city that is experiencing huge surges in crime rates.

we'll wait ..

meanwhile Portland, Chicago, LA, NYC and Detroit burn every day.

Well, Your statements here are highly racist. But here's the data I've come up with.

First of all of the 50 largest cities in the US only 11 have Republican Mayors. You can find it here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._United_States

Here is a Violent Crime Survey done by the Major Cities Chiefs Association which includes data for most of these cities. https://majorcitieschiefs.com/wp-con...st-Quarter.pdf

Fort Worth TX - Increase in Murders and Aggravated Assaults
Jacksonville FL - No Increase
Oklahoma City OK - Increase in Murders
Fresno CA - Increase in Murders, Rapes, and Aggravated Assaults
Mesa AZ - Increase in Murders and Aggravated Assaults
Colorado Springs CO - No Data
Omaha NE - Increase in Murders
Miami FL - Increase in Murders and Aggravated Assaults
Virginia Beach VA - No Increase
Tulsa OK - Increase in Aggravated Assaults
Arlington TX - Increase in Aggravated Assaults

Note that this data is only from the first quarter of the year and doesn't have any historical data from 2019 or before. That said I think you will find that violence has increased across the board regardless of whether the police were de-funded or not and whether the city was controlled by republicans or democrats.

One thing is certainly clear however. Large Cities lean Democratic rather than Republican.

Not necessarily. Denver has it's crime problems, in fact violent crime in Denver has been on the rise even before the Pandemic. Is the Mayor of Denver a Democrat or Republican?

i stopped at the "top ten" but i'm sure i can find more DEMOCRAT run cities to expand on. in fact, why don't you go find the first city with a Republican mayor and let's see where the homicide rate is in the rankings. i'd be surprised if it's in the top 20...
