From cruise lines' standpoint likely a business decision intending go facilitate getting back into business. Consider the average age of cruise passengers.

How about this. If for what ever reason you do not want to get vaccinated or simply have to prove you have, those that have been vaccinated "show their papers" and if you don't want to, you must take one of those 15 minute Covid tests and if you are negative, you get to board. It's not perfect but it is a compromise. Will the "I'll only sail if everybody is vaccinated" crowd buy this? Who knows.


In other news, the very first "all volunteer crew and passengers" set to leave Ft Lauderdale, was postponed because 6 of 8 crew who had already been vaccinated, tested positive for Covid.

Royal Caribbean International has postponed the inaugural sailing of its Odyssey of the Seas cruise ship “out of an abundance of caution” after eight crew members tested positive for COVID-19, the company’s CEO said.


Odyssey of the Seas, one of the world’s biggest cruise ships, was scheduled to cruise from Fort Lauderdale on July 3 and make stops in the Caribbean after conducting a test cruise with volunteers in late June. Its first cruise is now postponed until July 31. Its test cruise, required for ships that don’t have 95% of passengers vaccinated — a threshold set by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention — before revenue cruises can begin, will also be rescheduled.

same thing happened to UK's flight crews. a number of pilots who got vaccinated came down with covid. don't know how many tho.
