Actually, the Civil Rights Act was supported by a higher percentage of Republicans than Democrats. And it was a Democrat, LBJ, who was pushing it. So, he got more support from the GOP than his own party.

The Democrats like to forget that part.

In reality, a lot of Southern Democrats had begun to drift to the GOP before the Civil Rights Act because they perceived that the GOP was tougher on communism than a lot of Democrats and neither party was giving them any support on segregation.

Nixon's Southern strategy didn't do anything more than follow a trend that was already underway.

Your post just confirms wtf I said.

Those Republicans or Progressives migrated to the Democratic Party.

What you need to understand in that Progressives powered the GOP pre Civil Right legislation...Conservatives the Democrats. And by Conseratives. I mean those that do not like change. Progressive embrace it.

Those groups flipped/switched parties after the Civil Rights legislation. Oh it took a long time for it to work it's way down party but make no mistake that is wtf happened. You post confirms it....even though you seem to not understand what you have written.

Wow, just wow. Yes AOC and Bernie Sanders are direct descendants of the “Progressive” ideology. It’s interesting how the Progressives’ priorities have changed, from promoting racial equality to bankrupting America and kneecapping businesses.

I have wtf on ignore - but tiny reproduced his post
amusing how the true ideology surfaces - from one who claimed to be a 'Libertarian' - yet embraces with all the intellect One has to love the marxism of Bernie and AOC.

Bernie spent his honeymoon in russia - USSR ( do DPST's remember enough 'history' to know what that was)
and he and all the "progressives" are devout totalitarian controlling marxists - in Reality.
He and his fiden cabal are stout enemies of our Constitution, freedoms, and history - and will destroy all of those - through his puppet - the senile fiden!

Welcome to the 'new age ' - and when teh fiden Secret Police knock at One's door at midnight to be taken to the AOC re-education camps - remember

and when they came for me - there was No One to speak for me!

BTW - the topic is MLK - and until hi-jacked by marxist ideologues - it was in interesting debate.

Tsk, tsk, that word has been officially retired in the Democrat party, It has been supplanted by the word equity. It is keenly noticeable in the media as if an official EO went out and now equity must be used.

Quote:
Equality vs
.
Equity
. The difference between
equality
and
equity
must be emphasised. Although both promote fairness,
equality
achieves this through treating everyone the same regardless of need, while
equity
achieves this through treating people differently dependent on need.

So as if overnight, we have gone from the much hoped "treat everybody the same" to "treat people differently depending on need" and that has come down to color.

So instead of "not seeing color" we have entered the age of "you must take notice of color first and foremost". We see it in arguments about who should get vaccine first, who should get loans first, all based on color of your skin. Up lifting the Black community is worthwhile to be sure but at the cost of demonizing "White Privilege" to the point of asking a 8 year old White child to talk about their White Privilege and it's crimes against humanity and how they will go about excising this evil they were born with, is a step to far.

But where it is most apparent, is in education. The hot topic at the moment is "Critical Race Theory".

https://www.city-journal.org/biden-reinstitutes-critical-race-theory-training

On his first day in office, President Joe Biden rescinded the Trump administration’s executive order prohibiting critical race theory (CRT) training for federal agencies and federal contractors. This is a sad reversal for Americans committed to colorblindness in public life. But while the president’s order is binding at the federal level, state legislators still have a say in the matter. They should not shrink from resisting this pernicious philosophy.

Critical race theory understands the world by viewing everything—society, economics, education, family, science—through the lens of “whiteness” and white racism. White people, according to CRT, drift in a kind of amniotic fluid of privilege and unearned gifts based on the brutal ideology of “white supremacy.” Critical race theory includes values such as hard work, objectivity, deferred gratification, family, and respect for the written word as intrinsically racist, and claims that by “centering” these values American culture relentlessly suppresses black achievement while boosting white mediocrity into advancement. The “theory”—unfalsifiable because any argument against it can be dismissed as an expression of “white fragility”—demands that whites relinquish their unearned societal privilege and work to uproot racism from their own minds and from society at large.

CRT training sessions have become standard across academia, public education, corporate America, and government. Highly paid experts in indoctrination conduct multi-day seminars explaining how racist attitudes infect even the purest intentions, and why white employees are and will always be racist.

When they see it for what it really is, most Americans abhor critical race theory. Trump’s executive order declared that it would be “the policy of the United States not to promote race or sex stereotyping or scapegoating in the Federal workforce . . . and not to allow grant funds to be used for these purposes.” It defined “race or sex stereotyping” as “ascribing character traits, values, moral and ethical codes, privileges, status, or beliefs to a race or sex, or to an individual because of his race or sex.” It defines “race or sex scapegoating” as “assigning fault, blame, or bias to a race or sex, or to members of a race or sex because of their race or sex.”

President Biden’s reimposition of CRT training in the federal government is shameful. But it need not be the end of the story. Now is the time for governors and state legislators to step up—and to remember that these ideas don’t withstand scrutiny. In a state legislative committee hearing, the argument for colorblindness will always carry the day. As viewed through state and local media—where journalists are more likely to see their jobs as presenting both sides of controversies, rather than advancing the cause of social justice—the case against critical race theory will win hearts and minds.
To fight this battle at the state level is to win it—and to win it is to maintain a country founded on the ideal that all men are created equal. Not to fight this battle is to lose it—and to lose it is to concede that America should be a society that judges people based on the color of their skin, not the content of their character.

The only thing stopping state leaders is the political attacks sure to follow if they take a stand. If the past year provides any indication, CRT critics will be labeled by the national media and Twitter blue-checks as racists. After Trump defended—and Biden criticized—his executive order at the first presidential debate, NPR issued a “fact check” declaring: “Racial Sensitivity Training Is Not Racist.” It explained that “Racial sensitivity training, which addresses topics like white privilege and critical race theory, is aimed at creating inclusive workplaces for women and people of color.” Thus, only those harboring racial bias could oppose such efforts.

State leaders will have to decide whether imparting America’s principles to the next generation is worth the price of being excoriated on social media. If they decide that this is a price worth paying, they’ll pass laws prohibiting state and local government agencies, government contractors, and most importantly schools from using taxpayer money to indoctrinate adults and children into an ideology of racial and sexual scapegoating.

Make no mistake, far from leading us to unity, we are accelerating to division by color and now White people much like all Trump supporters, must be re-programmed and if you speak against such re-programming, well, you will then have just confirmed your racist ideas. This is not going to end well.

HF - thank You

A very important post exposing the

"minority identity politics" of teh fiden administration.

Another branch of this same propaganda is teh hannah-Jones (race-baiter) program - 1619 project - which demands and teaches the same horrific concepts - to demonize all white people as 'racists".

all of these marxist ideologues - are destroying the progress made towards equality by MLK and true 'civil rights' workers. they promote an exactly opposite agenda of hatred and demonization of all white people as 'racist oppressors".

It is so sad to see the destruction of all the progress made - and a return to the 'segregation and discrimination' ideology based on skin color - taken up by teh marxists and race-baiters!

The last time i tried to promote a dialogue on race( it is that I am afraid to use the 'r' word) issues - the thread was cut off - when 'liberals' hi-jacked the thread with hate posts.
i would like to see a better dialogue on teh issues - and have screaming howling ideologues mind their manners and contribute to a rational debate - not ideology rants.

I understand perfectly well what I have written.

But you don't understand what a conservative is. You think it's the beliefs of redneck bigots.

It isn't and never was. Small government conservatives believed and still believe strongly in civil rights. William Buckley drove the Birchers OUT of the conservative movement because he did not want to put up with bigoted conspiracy theorists ruining the conservative movement.

A real conservative doesn't want government creating racial quotas the way progressives do, or monitoring speech, or restricting the free exercise of religion. But they also don't want government in the business of deciding who can marry who - that would be religious traditionalists and/or homophobes.

And progressive don't embrace change so much as they try to control change. There's is plenty of change they oppose - especially if it is in the conservative direction.

Progressives - like the communists - suffer from the fatal conceit that they can control human nature and mold it to evolve in whatever direction they desire.

And progressives were in the Democratic party at least as far back as Woodrow Wilson - Another elitist idiot that thought that democracy got in the way of the enlightened class such as himself.

None of MLK personal life matters. What matters most is not much has changed in the Black Community since his death. Blacks still vote Democratic and worship that false God called Government, still blame everyone else for their lot in life and still commit violent crime against each other. King spoke to and and tried to inspire the Black community. But for the most part they ignored him.

Kinda of how conservative priorities changed defending our shores to bankrupting America with this neoconservative world expansion.

Most if not all our Trump lovers on this board also supported the 2002 invasion of Iraq. Some like LexusLover have still argued that there were WMDin Iraq.

So things go on full circle on both sides.

I'm not trying to rewrite history here Tiny....just define it.

Real conservatives would not have been for the invasion of Iraq. Were you for that?

Do you think so called conseratives do not monitor speech? Come on man!

I agree, real conseratives do not want government restricting religion nor do they want a theocracy where religion is put above rule of law and injected in politics.

So I sir, have a better than average idea of wtf a true conserative is...I think true conseratives are actually libertarians.
