Default Justice Department investigating potential bribery scheme to obtain pardon

Now this comes as as tremendous shock.

Just hours after Trump's POS AG announced that they could find no widespread voter fraud, we learn that Trump's own DOJ is investigating potential bribery.

You think Barr will be AG on January 19?

Justice Department investigating potential bribery scheme to obtain pardon

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is investigating a potentially criminal scheme involving paying a bribe to people either in or affiliated with the White House in exchange for an unknown person receiving a presidential pardon, according to court documents that were unsealed Tuesday.

The court records, which were unsealed by the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, say the DOJ investigation involves two people, whose names are redacted, who were improperly acting as lobbyists to secure the pardon for a person whose name is also redacted. The plot involved the person offering “a substantial political contribution in exchange for a presidential pardon or reprieve of sentence.”

It was not immediately clear for whom the pardon would be granted or where the bribe would be directed.

The disclosure, contained in a 20-page filing littered with redactions, comes amid reports that President Trump is considering pardoning an array of associates in the waning days of his presidency.

Seriously?

Hmmm... so why wasn't Eric Holder investigated back in Jan. 2001 after taking bribe money from fugitive US tax cheat Marc Rich in return for a pardon from Slick Willy the Perjuring Serial Sexual Predator??

The bribe money was "donated" to Slick Willy's future Presidential Library in Little Rock!

Seriously, as Lusty mentioned, where was the FBI when Democratic big dollar donor Marc Rich got a pardon? How many other folks got a pardon from Clinton and Obama who were big donors?

BTW, where was the media back then too? I don't see how holder got an AG spot approved by the Senate.

Holder got a pass because he is AA and it would have been "racist" to oppose his AG nomination in 2009.

To be fair, a lot of media folks were upset about the Marc Rich pardon at the time, even the New York Fucking Times:

https://www.nytimes.com/2001/01/24/o...le-pardon.html

https://www.nytimes.com/2001/02/17/o...ch-pardon.html

https://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/22/o...22lardner.html

Here's a good summary 15 years later by the New York Post:

https://nypost.com/2016/01/17/after-...s-off-friends/

I was wrong to say there was no investigation of the Marc Rich pardon. There were several probes, but none of them went anywhere. Even though the quid pro quo appears obvious, it couldn't be proven since neither of the parties to the transaction was stupid enough to spell it out in writing. Wink, wink - the swamp tries to be discreet about its corruption.

It's no shock that you would post this kind of crap.

I'm staying out of this one. Until I can rub it in. This is big time. Not a small-time-crook move. I knew as I was trolling Dilbert last night.

National Public Radio didn't send me the alert. It was on the "lame" stream.

Here we go!
