ballots and counting
I don't know about you all...
as I was following the the ballot counting, this was starting to bother me.
one thing I've noticed is this and this is a major flaw in these elections.
they start counting as they receive the ballots and make callouts. the problem with this is that they don't know exact number of ballots they have received from the voting precinct. this process makes it easy for any operative to slip in a bunch of ballot boxes to the counting center in the county and pull a 3 hour stunt to reconnoiter how many ballots needed to pad the votes.
this looks like this is something they have always done. I think its time to change this to make it more secure and maintain integrity.
1.
I'm not sure how many states do a pre-count of the ballots. this is the count before the count.
all states should do the pre-count and lock down any voting precincts that do not have any ballot boxes to ship to the counting center. this prevents any attempt to add in "magic" ballot boxes to the count since the operative doesn't know who's leading. this keeps the chain of custody and ballot integrity in place. FYI, these ballot boxes should have serial numbers for tracking purposes.
2.
there should not be multiple counting centers in counties. there should only be one counting center some place in the state; most likely a warehouse where voting machines are stored.. all ballots from counties go to this one counting center
some states have done this, took away the counting chores from the counties and have set up a single counting center. Not sure what states does this, but I do believe Britain have this type of setup.
3.
police escort shall follow ballot trucks from voting precinct to the counting center ensuring the chain of custody is not broken.
4.
the pre-count ballot tally should be announced during election day. the actual count begins the next day.
5.
ensure that all observers and election judges can view the counting process without interference or get run off. have cameras setup for that process.
6.
ballots should have a serial number that ties to the voter. this way, if found that voter is a "double" voter, that ballot can be pulled.
7.
ballots should have a security feature found in U.S. dollars to thwart counterfeiting.
8.
media should be banned from calling an election. they can make an announcement on the pre-count tally, but they can't tally the election until the next day when the actual counting begins.
what do you think? lets hear it.

Secret ballot? NAw.
media suppression.
Voter suppression
American exceptionalism at its finest.
I agree with 1b1, you don’t seem to know how voting works, BP.
Additionally, it seems as if you want a federal government takeover of the voting process. How very socialist!

This crap all started when the Democrats insisted on just randomly mailing out ballots, rather than a person actually having to request one.
We need to get back to voting on Election Day, standing in line, and actually showing some form of ID proving who you are. Absentee ballots would be requested by a voter if they have a legitimate excuse for not being able to vote on Election Day.

PA-- Mail in ballots had to be requested
MI-- Mail in ballots had to be requested
WI-- Mail in ballots had to be requested
GA-- Mail in ballots had to be requested
In Arizona-- the only people who are automatically sent a mail in ballot are those who opted in to PEVL (Permanent Early Voter List) either at registration, or at some later point.
Many states would send out applications for mail in ballots-- but the majority (if not all-- I don't have the time to verify beyond what I just did above this morning) of the states in contention required you to apply for that mail in ballot. I know in Ohio I received an application for a mail in ballot-- but I still had to submit said application in order to get an actual ballot (I voted in person).

Every precinct knows exactly how many registered voters they have, and that is an actual control function.
Clearly some commentators on this board have no clue how the process works.
And btw, even though Chicago has voting precincts that do include cemeteries, no dead were seen arising.
On the other hand, one kc cemetary did have a bride and the grim reaper running around on all hallows eve trying to raise the dead. Review to follow.

Most here are missing the point!
We need to have a uniform voting and ballot counting system at least for the federal level for every State
We need a more secure election process!
The current system is corrupt and easily manipulated.

The reason it is so secure now is because it is not centralized.
What you ask for is stupid as fuc.
The current system is not corrupt and is almost impossible to manipulate.
We should be making easier for folks to vote....not harder.
This year in Texas it was great because of all the early voting. Unlike Jackie S....I do not want to stand in a day long line. Took me no time to vote this time. Drove to Rice University Stadium....parked, walked in the Stadium and checked my name and voted. Easy peasy.

What should have happened is that the State legislators had let the early ballots be counted before the election like Florida does.
Trump would have gotten trounced on Tuesday night and you idiots would not be running around crying about voter fraud and the election being stolen.

Puerto Rico just found 180 brief cases full of un processed, uncounted ballots in a "secure vault" controlled by the PR election authority.
Not an anecdote . . .its a press release from the govt election authority!
