Default I am wondering if the American Civil war was inevitable

I was just wondering, couldn’t everyone involved just have said ok to the southern states forming their own republic? This country was established on states rights and freedom from a king, aka the federal government ...sorry guys, I have been watching a PBS series on the American Civil War, current events are frustrating to me. If I was black, which I am not, I would be more concerned with other black men than the police

There have been way smarter men than I who have debated this in great detail over the last 175 years. I say that it was inevitable myself. I also believe that in the next 100 years there will likely be another war between the states over many of the same issues including slavery. With the working man being the slave and the ruling class being the modern slave master. At some point when you work 70 hours a week and barely scrape by and your paying 2/3 of your income in tax people will have enough and start banding together ready to fight for the cause of freedom. Its not there yet but it sure seems to be heading that way. I am an old man so its not my fight. I will live out the rest of my days being a slave paying my unjust tax and being glad to have to illusion of freedom I am afforded. It could be much worse I could be black living in a city that has been run my democrats for 70 years. Those truly poor people are the ones who suffer most and they dont even know any better. They buy into what they are told and live miserable lives with little or no chance for advancement. So I feel blessed to have the life that I have with the limited freedoms my labor afords me. I will tow the line and hopefully be gone before the real strife begans.

Yep, I believe you are right Basscat. Too much government leads to anarchy.

I wonder who is going to pay the taxes for thos3 that don’t want to work for a living when the independent owners/contractors have been taxed out of their businesses?

Default taxation

In fact - taxation is at historically low rates.

Not in California, New York, and other states with failed state and local governments enacting stifling regulations and taxes on businesses, curtailing personal freedoms and expanding already out of control hand out programs.

There is near max exodus from them. Their national representatives and senators want us, you and me, to fund their bail out so they can continue their failed policies.

I don't advocate another civil war. I just hope we wake up and see this for what it is and stop the effort to solve their problem by our taxes. We stop this at the ballot box and by putting in place an independent judiciary that simply follows the Constitution as originally understood and applies statutory law as written, rather than legislating from the bench.

We will be already getting a huge new tax burden for years to come from COVID. I understand the reason and accept it, provided we address the fraud attendant with many of the "loans" and forgiveness of them.

There are simply not enough 1% people to cover this. It will inevitably hit the working middle class and hard, political rhetoric notwithstanding. Tax increases on corporations stymy economic growth, discourage hiring or wage increases, and get passed on to consumers as increased cost of products and services.

I pray that the US House and Senate remain under control of different parties and that SCOTUS remains independent.

The American Civil War from 175 or so years ago was inevitable. Another one need not be. If it comes, it is likely to be triggered by anarchists determined to sow seeds of discontent, advocating communism disguised as socialism, permitted free and unchecked violence by sympathetic or intimidated local governments, and not from citizens overburdened with taxes. The latter, by nature, suffer silently until it is too late.

Brer you lay it out well. I will add one thing regarding armed revolt. These man bun wearing Antifa clowns and the rest of the groups who join in with the anarchist that we have been seeing in these poorly run democrat cites better take note to exactly who they will have to face should they push things to far. Most of the people I personally know who do not agree with whats been going on this last year or so are very well armed and in most cases highly trained ex military/police or experienced outdoorsmen. Should it ever come to a actual armed confrontation between the two sides I can assure you we will rollover the man bun antifa types without any resistance. That is a fact. A person who grew up in the city who has never served in combat or stalked game will be at a severe disadvantage in a life of death battle against former and current law enforcement/military types that make up the vast majority of our ranks. I hope it never comes to that but should it I feel confident what side will win.

Well stated, gentlemen, your observations are always interesting. What concerns me the most is the regime change in Washington. Biden is a 77 year old yes man, Kamala Harris is a leftist radical. At the same time, Georgia has runoffs in both their Senate elections. The Democrats could win control of the Senate. As always, a vocal minority can beat a silent majority. Fuck it, I only had 1 vote... fighting “bun headed”Antifa activists vs fighting the National Guard are two different things

I didn't intend to mention that that, indeed, many of us do come with that experience. As Hank, Jr. observed, "a country boy can survive". And, those of us with mil, LE, or hunting skills do have the experience, training and equipment to protect ourselves and family in an armed confrontation. That should be a last resort, but is good reason to diligently protect the right to bear arms. If all else fails . . .

There is a big difference between being trained/experienced to take a life and actually doing it. The South won many early battles because many of the Southern troops were successful hunters or their families did not eat. Taking a life, at short or long distance was relatively easy for them. The merchant/city class of the North had to be trained and even then were slow to evolve into killers willing to go the distance. With the exception of the multi-tour gung-ho battle harden military and inner city dope slinging thugs, most of todays gun totting class will be pansies, just like their forbearers when it comes to actually pulling the trigger. Drop a Molotov cocktail at their feet and see them run.

And that will be the next civil war, an absolute bloody mess of door to door combat resembling Stalingrad/Leningrad with the survivors resorting to eating cats and dying children.

Just a random thought.

I haven’t revisited this thread in quite a while, but “anameingulport’s” comment piqued my attention. If anyone thinks that a civil war would be fought against “bun heads”, I can assure you that it would be fought against police and no no one knows how many federal entities... oh yeah, don’t forget the U.S military. One comment reminded me of a voluminous book written by William Craig titled “Enemy at the Gates”. A portion of the book was adapted to a movie, it was also titled “Enemy at the Gates”. It details the exploits of Vassili Zaitsev, a renowned Soviet sniper. The book is a fascinating read, it relates the desperation of the battle for Stalingrad. The Soviets manufactured T-34 tanks in Stalingrad and they literally rolled them out of the factory into battle... the book is a long but an interesting read. I guess, long story short, if you think you live in a “free country”, stop paying your federal taxes and try’em ...

Yep, CWI (Civil War I) was fought because the southern states were paying 78% of the Federal Budget. When the ticks outweigh the dog, it's fight or die...
