They are at the top and they benefit while all the "little people" pay the price.

The trick is to only give them a little bit at a time. My family members never ask because none of them need it - but I have the same situation going on with several twenty something females who agree with my philosophy on avoiding sugar and saturated fat - and they have to put out. (If it goes over a grand they need to bring another skinny little female friend with them to share the wealth...)

Then let's adopt that policy which is far from what the Democrat party is offering.
What these countries have, for the most part, are higher individual tax rates and more social programs. People have much more security in their lives than people in the U.S. but pay for it while they are working.

I am not on my soap box pushing anyone towards Democratic Socialism. It is an alternative to how things are done in this country. I have personally done rather well under our system.

I think it has been established that countries like Denmark, bristle at the term Democratic Socialist. They call themselves Social Democrats and the fact that they bristle at the first, tells me they do not want to be refereed to as Socialist even with Democrat attached.
Apparently they see a big difference in being Social but not a Socialist.

Denmark's prime minister says Bernie Sanders is wrong to call his country socialist
In the PM's speech, he warns that under his system, they have to be very careful as to not offer to much welfare as it could lead to a lack of incentive to work. If a society like Denmark can not instill that "personal responsibility" in it's citizens, their system will not work and IMHO, this can only happen in a more homogeneous society not the vast multiculturalism we have in our country. Our Democratic Socialists are more about "identity politics" and pitting one against another. The PM also spoke about the difficulties in allowing to many immigrants in that will to work for lower wages, up-setting the delicate balance of a welfare state as they call themselves.
We can't be Denmark for all the reasons I have just stated.

I talked to several individuals while traveling in those countries I mentioned. Not one complained about the system. Are there downsides? Certainly. The one worry that people in the U.S. have as they approach retirement age is whether or not they will have enough money to get by. Their income will decrease, as mine did.
"The most frequently cited retirement fear is “outliving my savings.” Fifty two percent of all workers (young and old) say that they fear outliving their savings and investments, and 42% are concerned that they will not be able to meet the basic financial needs of their household." Jun 29, 2020
Again, I am not saying I support moving all-in to such a system. I am saying that Democratic Socialism, or whatever one wants to call it, seems to work very well in those countries where it is instituted and does not conflict with capitalism.

Very well stated and is the essence of why people think he is a joke. Ivy Leaguers wouldn't bother to respond with such weak diction and pound the table insisting they are Ivy Leaguers while they write like a semi-skilled tradesmen - not that there is anything wrong with that kind of honest labor! (Especially since they are the people that keep the world functioning)
I graduated from a public state university (albeit the finest one in the Southern Estados Unidos) so I can be coarse if I want to be...

Took more than five minutes this time.
My Uncle Sam says he's a capitalist. But when he speculates all the family's money away, he's happy to receive life support from the rest of us to keep calling himself a capitalist.
And this guy, of course.

Poor insecure 9500- wants a marxist government to take care of him and America - because he is not capable of taking care of himself as a Man.
Pathetic.
