Why would a guy like Kennedy be a segregationist? He never had an inconvenience in his life growing up and was on the top of every social scene he entered. He was like an early 60's version of Jay Gatsby's privileged son - and the only thing he knew about black folks was that they lived in poverty in the South and owed him their votes.
