According to the woman's fiance, the altercation started after the group the woman was in used a racial slur. The suspect's group shouted "Black lives matter" A member of the woman's group, possibly Whitaker herself, said "all lives matter".

Everybody pulled guns at that point according to the fiance. Seeing that everybody was armed, the groups seperated.

One group said "black lives matter" (there were 5 in the group). There is no evidence they were BLM activists. The OP callS them a mob.

It sounds like the second group fired the first shots that resulted in the death of Whitaker. Needless to say, the death of any innocent person is a tragedy.

The OP story leaves out the fact all were armed.
It leaves out the fact her group used the "N" word to start things.
The OP article claims the "blacks" pulled guns first. It atributes the statement to Ramirez but he isn't quoted in any story saying that.
The victim's father and grandfather are quoted but they weren't witnesses.

Indiana woman shot dead after saying ‘all lives matter': family

A young mother was fatally shot earlier this month in Indiana and may have been targeted for saying “all lives matter,” the 24-year-old’s family said Sunday.

Jessica Doty Whitaker and three friends were hanging out along the Indianapolis Canal Walk at about 3 a.m. on July 5, WXIN-TV reported.

They argued with another group after one of the people Whitaker was with used a racial slur, her bereaved fiancé, Jose Ramirez, told WXIN.

A racially charged confrontation ensued with the other group, during which the suspect’s group shouted, “Black Lives Matter,” and someone in Whitaker’s group — possibly her — said, “all lives matter,” Ramirez said.

Guns were whipped out, and both sides, seeing that all were armed, backed off, he said.

“It was squashed, and they went up the hill and left, we thought, but they were sitting on St. Clair waiting for us to come under the bridge, and that’s when she got shot,” Ramirez told WXIN.

He fired off a shot in return, but didn’t hit anyone, he said.

“I was actually holding her when it happened,” Ramirez told WTHR-TV. “She just fell. I turned around, and I opened fire too. But that’s just a reaction.”

Whitaker, a home health nurse who WTHR said was on the verge of going back to school and getting married, leaves behind a 3-year-old son as well as her fiancé, mother and numerous other family members.

The shooting was the third in a week in the same area, WTHR reported.

Her bereaved family is left picking up the pieces — and vowing to keep Whitaker in her son’s heart forever.

“I’m never going to get to hold her again,” her mom, Arlena Doty, told WTHR. “I just want the people who are responsible to be held accountable.”

Damn, it sounds like Indiana is the Wild Wild West now. I didn't know they rolled like that out there. I thought they just loved basketball there. I never thought they would have the mentality that people walked around as if they were starring in a Western movie. I know they love their basketball in that state but apparently they love their guns as well. That's some pretty crazy shit.

In all seriousness, nothing really goes right when you are hanging out at 3 in the morning. There's probably going to be a few drunk idiots that you have to deal with at that hour. That's not her fault. She was probably just out having fun with friends. Unfortunately for her, many at that hour are not in a "fun" mood. Unless you are in the mood for fighting, it's not worth it to even engage anyone at 3 in the morning unless you smoked some good weed and you are at a pizza joint. At least that was my college experiences with 3 AM encounters with complete strangers. We all got along great because we were all hungry and high as fuck.
