Default Texas breaks 10,000 cases in one day

Go Texas!

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/07/07/texa...irst-time.html

I love this quote:
-------------------------------------------------
Harris County and Dallas County, home to Houston and Dallas, have reported the most Covid-19 cases across the state so far, according to Texas Health and Human Services.

Houston's hospitals are on trak to be overwhelmed in approximately two weeks as cases mount, Mayor Sylvester Turner said on CBS’ “Face The Nation” on Sunday. People of color are being disproportionately impacted, particularly Hispanic residents, he said.

“The number of people who are getting sick and going to the hospitals has exponentially increased. The number of people in our ICU beds has exponentially increased,” Turner said.
----------------------------------------------------

Remember when the COVID models said we would only lose 65K people in 2020? Now that model says we lose 208K by November:

https://edition.cnn.com/webview/worl...d3dc5dcca35387

Maybe we can have Friendly Fred weigh in again on what an exponential increase looks like.

Or maybe Gnadfly or Bambino can tell us not to worry about all the new cases, because the death rate ain't that bad. YET.

A lot of young people went out in TX, CA, FL and elsewhere in June - some protesting, some partying - and frequently did NOT wear masks. You all saw the pictures of the 20 something morons crowding the bars and restaurants without masks. So, three weeks later, we have a LOT more cases of young people and the average patent age has lowered.

But those young people eventually go home and meet with older relatives or older people from work. So, there should now be a surge in cases and deaths among older folks in those states. And alot more hospitalizations.

But a big chunk of blame can be laid at the feet of the retards who said, back in April and May that we were overreacting and that the shutdown was unnecessary.

The people of this country don't like being told what to do. On the one hand, I love that trait of our nation - it keeps progressives in line.

But, on the other hand, there is a huge downside when ignoramuses don't follow wise advice (wear your mask!) because they believe in some idiotic conspiracy theory. And, of course, the feckless idiot in the White House had done nothing to improve the situation.

Over 135,000. On our way to over 200,000. Do you find solace in that?

And the 200K number is looking low. If the hospitals exceed capacity, they won't be able to treat many of the worst cases and the death rate among the untreated will skyrocket. A lot of states will have NY type numbers.

All because idiots - mostly young - think it is no big deal and won't wear masks.

In the building where I live, everyone over 40 is wearing a mask, especially in elevators.

Less than half of the ones under 40 wear masks. Not in elevators, not in the gyms, not in the public areas.

Looks like Black people can't buy a break. If the Police don't get them Covid-19 will.

where were you when fauci was saying "we don't need to wear masks" in January?

where were you when fauci suddenly declared MILLIONS would die?

where were you when Trump cut off travel to China and everyone called him a RACIST XENOPHOBE?

where were you when Andy Cuomo sent thousands to nursing homes exposing many vulnerable people?

oh yeah none of that fit your ORANGE MAN BAD take

Excellent thread OP. Well done. Even the Trumpys aren't putting in very much effort to try and deny this. Apparently trying to defend his lunacy is becoming exhausting for them.

Other than close travel with China, Europe and other countries, built ventilators and PPE because Obama left the cupboard bare, increase testing capabilities, and shut the country down for 30 days, what else could the “feckless” leader done?

Actually it’s tiresome trying to debate libtards like you who can’t acknowledge facts.

Actually post a fact someday and perhaps it will get acknowledged.

Either that or stop trying and just go away

Thanks for reminding me you were one of the ones saying CV-19 was no big deal. So your post above makes no sense. It should be directed at yourself.

But to answer your questions:

I supported Trump when he cut off travel to China.

I criticized Cuomo right from the moment I heard he ordered NY nursing homes to take CV-19 patients on March 25.

I was skeptical about Fauci's pronouncement that masks weren't necessary. And he is correct about the potential for a million deaths. We are already at 135K after barely 4 months.

The fact that he had to change estimates is not his fault. It merely reflects the reality of the situation - as people change their behavior, the rate of spread of the disease changes. He doesn't control that.

You are a senile moron.

Trump doesn't actually control the shutdowns in the states, the governors do.

But Trump could have pushed for a 45 day or 60 day shutdown by threatening to withhold federal aid to any state that was not enacting sufficiently strict measures. The states would still have the power to do what they want, but they would have to do it on their own dime.

More importantly, Trump should have scared the hell out of everyone RIGHT FROM THE START. He should have worn a mask himself, made the WH staff wear them, and harangued the US population, especially his base, to wear masks.

Social pressure is more powerful in this case than threats of fines or jail.

Be honest, Trump has been trying to downplay the danger from Day 1 because he doesn't want to ruin his reelection chances. The irony is that his fecklessness has now cost him reelection.

And how much data and knowledge did anyone have of Wuhan virus in march, 2020???
Typical of the DPST - judging matters of the the past by standards and knowledge of the current moment.

And ignoring cuomo and Deblasio and garcetti actions in march 2020.
Don't be a hypocrite.
it is written - the rstrospectoscope is always 20/20.

Apparently, Trump knew a lot more than he let on.

The military briefed him in JANUARY and he continued to do the absolute minimum.

How many times did the stable genius contradict Fauci or Blix - sometimes right in front of them at a press conference.

And don't get me started about the way he grasped at straws with hydrochloroquine and drinking disinfectant (!!!).

Andrew Cuomo BADLY botched the NY nursing home situation and pathetically tries to blame everyone else.

But he STILL gets undeserved praise because he put on a dignified and somber face during his daily press conferences. He projected competence and gravitas even as he screwed up behind the scenes.

If only the clown in the WH had stayed off Twitter and acted with some dignity during press conferences - keeping his answers short and to the point and in-line with what Fauci and others were telling him.

His approval rating would be up around 50% instead of at 38% and falling.
