Perhaps someone should ask Chris Cuomo about his hypocritical use of the less safe derivative quinine to get over his case of Covid-19 ...

https://nypost.com/2020/05/20/chris-...quine-mcenany/

Another good question would be to ask Governor Andrew Cuomo why he ordered and received 70,000 doses of Hydroxychloroquine for the people of New York.

Things that make you go "Hmmmm..."

Expect physicians to stop prescribing hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine for Covid-19 patients.

The study examines 96,032 patients, of which 14,888 received hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine and the rest were considered the control group. They only included people who started on the drugs within 48 hours of entering the hospital, and measures of the severity of the disease were similar in the control group and the groups that took the drugs.

I'll just quote results for those who took hydroxycholoroquine without an antibiotic. Results are a little better for those who just took chloroquinine and a little worse for those who combined the drugs with antibiotics (macrolides in the paper).

9.3% of the people who didn't take hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine died, and 0.3% suffered ventricular arrhythmias.
For those who took hydroxychloroquine alone, 18% died and 6.1% suffered ventricular arrhythmias.

Does this mean that people like President Trump who are taking hydroxychloroquine as a prophylaxis are more likely to die? Maybe so, maybe not. There's not enough data out there to know. I sure wouldn't take the stuff. He and everyone around him should wear masks instead.

Aside: Anyone like Friendly Fred who's interested in comorbidities should look at Table 1 in the Lancet paper (linked above). 61% of the people who died were obese.
Does all this bullshit mean you think Trump shouldn't be taking it?

Life science is also somewhat of an art form. There are very few black and white answers in life science. Treatments are almost never 100% effective for everyone

So should social control decisions ...

.. like ordering people inside and to remain there until further ORDERS!

For instance .... "Beaches" on Memorial Day!

Default i dare say the dims and thier media politicize "science" to attack peresident trump

its not the pale moon that excites me

in regard to trump's use of hydroxycholroquine

oh no

its just the way the media purposely misuses science and scientific studies and hypes potential side effects far beyond their dangers in regard to hydroxycholroquine

now that excites me

Agreed. However, it would be good to see the president of the United States using his bully pulpit to promote things that work, instead of things that probably don't. Masks for example. If most people wore them we could save trillions of dollars by further reopening the economy. That's in addition to tens of thousands of lives saved.

Oeb - That's a stretch, calling this study BS, if that's what you mean. You're not going to see many physicians using the drugs for treatment of Covid 19 going forward.

May I rephrase. Medical decisions should not be based on Trump's opinions. Or the media, like the President's twitter feed.

So apparently Trump finished his HCQ course of treatment on Friday sometime.

And as only he could say it.

Quote:
“Finished, just finished,” Trump said in an interview on Sinclair Broadcast Group program “Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson” that was taped Friday and aired Sunday. “By the way, I’m still here to the best of my knowledge. Here I am.”

That's good, he's wise to stop taking it.
