Saltgrass isn't as good as it used to be but not bad for a chain. They used to have Shiner Bock bread which was superb but changed the recipe. When I go at dinner I usually get the prime rib or KBob. Their lunch menu is unspectacular.
I like the sides more than the beef at Longhorn. My wife is allergic to peanuts so going in there even without her is risking death.

Salt Grass served a decent prime steak 20 years ago or so. After Tillman bought them they went to cheaper cuts of meat, choice at best, and I haven't been back since.
Longhorn is a chain type steak house and serves a medium quality cut. For a decent steak at a reasonable Texas Roadhouse serves up decent fare. You can even pick your steak from their counter if you're so inclined.
Years ago, Roosters in Baytown served some fine cuts(the owner also owned Leonard's Meat Market) Only downside to them was they were basically flat iron grilled rather than cooked over an open flame but with the prime cuts it was still a great steak and the cooking method, since it was only a couple of minutes per side, didn't really make or break anything. It wasn't uncommon to wait an hour for a table. If someone wanted to take the 72 oz challenge, Lowell, the owner of Leonards would go down to the meat market and cut a fresh sirloin, bring it back and cook it to order.
There are some great steakhouses in Houston. Tebow knows I've kept my 3 room cardboard condo out behind Vic and Anthony's for years but I prefer choosing a prime NY strip from the butcher counter at HEB and grill it myself in between dumpster dives.

I believe you're confusing Longhorn with Texas Road House. TRH has the peanuts.

There is no such thing as a dress code anymore. Guys consider wearing torn skinny jeans, Toms, tee-shirt, sport coat & bed Head upscale.

I haven't been to Saltgrass in years but I always thought that place was the best bang for the buck back then. I work with a lot of snooty people so when we have dinner and I order a steak, I am usually disappointed. I'm not paying for the food so no big deal, but I would be kind of pissed if I was paying those prices for a better meal that I could get at Saltgrass for 20% of the price... I may have to go check out Saltgrass this weekend. It's been a long time.

Killen’s steak house in the woodlands and Parland is amazing. The ribeye is a real pantry dropper. And it’s the kind of place you wanna get dressed up for. Ruth’s Cris also has also has amazing food. And shame on y’all going off topic. Like really. Who goes and gets all dressed up for salt grass. I even Put on panties for those place’s!!
And SC stooooop. You constantly post about being cheap. Lie about all these girls who want you and buying one of em diamonds when we all know that ain’t true. U r the last person to be insulting anyone else Eva! Better pray and ask Kap for forgiveness

ZP, i don't usually get involved in stuff like this, but SC sorta inherited an estate from his uncle while his uncle is sorta "detained" in a "Big House," as it were. kind of like a black version of donald trump, but with a higher iq and fewer sexual batteries to his name, imo..
i know the first part b/c SC put it out there-which doesn't mean shit-but it was confirmed by Cendell_M, who met him in the RW. i have not. so when he talks about the Land Rover and the high-end steakhouses etc., ya it's a thing. probably the best line of attack is, "well, you're just like donald trump, got everything handed to you by your father (or uncle, as the case may be), but at least your hair isn't orange and you didn't throw Uncle Sam under the bus, so there's that.."
back on topic. steakhouses. i don't know anything about that except always order a high quality steak rare or medium rare at most. Reatta Pass in the eastern outskirts of phoenix has (or had) an incredible 40 oz. porterhouse cooked over mesquite wood that was fucking to die for..
ruth chris, smith and wolensky, and sullivan's come to mind here in town. (is sullivan's still even open anyone know?) but i'm the first to admit i am no expert, so i'll defer to those of you who are.

I wash cars for a living, look like Quasi modo so no hot women for me, and I eat prison style Ramen Noodles mixed with government issued sausages and cheese. That being said ZP appears to not be very bright...she and her info giver / lover Slit are both confused as fuck bless their hearts. Lol
And PX I resent you ever comparing me to Donald Trump. You're crossing a line and its aggravating. I hope he chokes on a pretzel.

Took some European clients to Saltgrass and one guy ordered his prime rib WELL DONE. This was during some mad cow outbreak in UK. Technically, we don't get MCD here. The Dumbass.
At least most Europeans won't order Californian wine here in America.

Restaurants that have a dress code are the ones I attend, but even so it appears most don't enforce the dress code.

What image do the flawed listed above have to project? MJ gambler. Michael Irvin rapist/pedophile/coke head. Ray Lewis accessory to murder.

Leave it to the woodman to bring up Roosters! That place used to put some serious groceries on the table for sure.
I think all the places mentioned here have their place - nicer ones and even the more moderate steak places have their own niche.
But this thread is about dress code! I still think that people look like idiots when not dressing up when out in public.
