I did sweetheart I ended up getting him screen to a different way .. just sucks when you're trying to be nice to somebody and because you did not receive a text then they want to try to charge you I have the screenshot of where she sent me her cash app and everything .. and I have absolutely no problem with giving references as long as you text me and I received the text

I would like to start with I DO NOT charge for giving references but I don't pay for anyone to give me one either.
That said I don't huff and puff about if someone wants to charge for giving a reference (especially so publicly (bringing drama to boards is entertaining but it's not often productive or sexy)). I'm not a fan of the practice but if that's what that provider wants to do then it is what it is (just like there are provider who will take references but don't give them). I've heard of ladies asking for a payment to give a ref for years. It's not a new thing. Sharing is caring and in a perfect heaux world it would be nice if everyone gave them for free.

References are nice but they are hardly the be-all end-all of screening and shouldn't be looked at or treated as such (not putting words in anyone's mouths). There's so many ways and honestly much better ways to screen outside of references that it is absolutely no skin off my back if someone doesn't want to provide me with a response on a reference check. Just because I ask doesn't mean I'm entitled to receive. And that's something else not talked about when the discussion of references come up...there's a high level of entitlement in the reference system (not a knock to anyone in particular). I don't expect anyone to look out for me better than I can look out for myself.
