Nikki, you are amazing . Truly. Thank you so much for sharing a different perspective.That's why I put this out here rather than just point fingers and be pissy. I want to hear other voices before I do something that I can't take back.
I think much of what you said was right on and focused on compassion. I'd rather be compassionate than be right.
I will take issue with you on one point. I am out my time, and it is the most valuable thing I've got. I really couldn't give a shit about the money. But I have many obligations (as do we all) and to waste my time is an insult if you're a provider or a CEO. If a CEO did the same thing I would no longer trust her/him nor want to do business with her/him. Why would a provider not understand this or think she was exempt?

That ceo would be fired. 95% of providers thinks the world revolves around them bc they haven’t been in touch with the real world for years. That’s why they show up an hour late for every appointment or cancel 6 times in a row with the same poor guy. They are that out of touch, delusional and ignorant and self absorbed. I get both sides of this situation and agree with ur last post. Time is valuable. Like you I don’t have 24/7 availability 7 days a week like 95% of providers do. Like u I have a full time job and only have a very limited window of opportunity. Sometimes I underestimate my capabilities with a 55hr work week every week. I only know of two other providers that have legitimate jobs and 2 or 3 that lie about having one. The rest don’t have normal obligations and generally tell a really shitty lie that anyone with half a brain and common sense know their full of it. I have heard all kinds of tall tales from guys regarding reasons to cancel. The canceling is one thing. Fine. Life happens. The lying, mainly from providers baffles me

I think Nikki's thoughtful post is a good one to end on. I'm not going to post providers names after all, not because I think this Behavior is acceptable but rather that I just don't think it would really do any good. I think they both know who they are and they would be deterred from doing this again.
I also want to be clear that I was not blown off in the sense of no-call no-show, but I was canceled on at the very last minute with no acknowledgement of the loss of my time and no effort to make it up to me.
I have learned a few things:
This kind of thing does happen a lot on both sides, so much so that it is accepted as normal. Providers are so used to it that it's difficult for them to understand how it feels to be on the other side, and what they could do about it to improve their business. Suprisingly, my efforts to calmly and privately work this out with the providers resulted in thier anger each time, as if they with the only ones with obligations and priorities.

It would be nice if we would all just grow the fuck up and behave like responsible adults, but of course that's never going to happen.

I work 50-80 hours a week owning 2 civi businesses. I also fit in 4-6 dates a week at my incall plus touring several times a month. In my 10+ year hobby career I've done 1 ncns. That was because I didn't have his phone number and didn't have data coverage to cancel on Indys. I gave a free make up date the next time I was in his area and made him cookies. Ncns is wrong in my opinion. I view this as a job, I move my entire life around to fit in the hobby. If you Ncns you better make it up to her if she will see you again. If she Ncns you she better make it up to you if you will see her again.
