I think EVERYBODY needs to take a breath, here.

Gray - your first comment was funny. Devyn misunderstood, and that's not TOTALLY surprising, since she doesn't know your sense of humor the way most of us around the 417 board do. But your reply was a touch on the "patronizing" side, wasn't it?

Devyn - Gray actually seems like a pretty good guy based on what I can tell from a few years of comments and probably at least one or two PMs between us. But he has a "needling" sense of humor. Fred said it was "obvious," but Fred - like me - has the benefit of a few years exposure to Gray, just like I do....so "obvious" might be a little more subjective. As for you, I DO see why it struck a nerve - but I wonder if maybe the whole situation strikes a nerve, and Gray's comment just was a "poke," on an already-bruised place? A "poke" you would've recognized as a "nothing-burger," if you weren't already a little frustrated?

Maybe I'm wrong - on one or both counts - just a thought...

I don’t know him and it was pretty obvious to me. I’m kind of confused as to what the issue is here. She’s upset because someone spelled their name the same way as her? I’ve seen it spelled as Devyn many times in multiple facets of life. I mean I could maybe see getting mad if she was stealing her pictures and saying she was her...

Devyn has a history of exactly that, happening....I don't know if THIS INSTANCE qualifies or not, but as big a problem as it was for her, I don't blame her for the assumption....and maybe it's not an assumption - she may know something we don't.

I do know this - Devyn doesn't "over-react" - at least not very often. I've seen her 3-4 times and have known her for several years. She's generally pretty chill/pleasant. If she did over-react here, I at least can understand why...."identity theft" of her provider profile has been an on-going problem, and like I suggested, it's probably a sore subject.

I’m a bit over this conversation. My name has been Devyn for over 10 years on several boards. Never seen anyone spell it the same and I Check all the time. I was making a joke about another fake “Devyn” but she used my spelling. The comment after was what upset me. It’s my Brand and some of us providers do things to set our self up to be Unique instead of going with a basic reused name over and over. I take pride in my Brand. You wouldn’t get it because you’re not a provider.

I hardly even Interact on post little lone over react. As a provider that is a soar subject. It would be the same if you built a business over several years and some steals your business name to possibly confuse ppl then to be trashy on top of it. Just not cool. Unlike the real world I can’t Trademark my brand.
