This is like a love story. A really weird one lol.

It's beyond boring. I think they stole the beta version of Myspace. No, it's not that good. The security is horrific and there is no benefit to using it instead of Twitter or any other social media. Luckily for everyone it's still free for a few weeks lol.

I sort of get the theory--if it is rebranded as a "social network" than the idea, presumably from someone's lawyer although I find this questionable, is limited legal liability for being a "service" on which people try to replicate a hooker board. The problem is that the forum parts are what added network effects and thus some degree of value.


We shall see. It's interesting to be around for an inflection in the biz and be able to recognize it in real time.

You have to remember all the personalities involved.
CWSC seems to have a few separate ones and the retired one enjoyed multiple identities too.
Hell, they could almost populate a site on their own.

The game playing is why I deleted my account. If I had an inkling before, I would have left sooner.
Who's right, who's wrong....whatever. Right now, everything is changing and then add all the bullshit on top of it....forget it. I haven't felt good about it since the first night it came back online. It's a little more stressful in this political climate, added crap isn't needed. It just isn't worth it. I like quiet and discreet.

Well, that and the technical chops. If I'm right, it's about a 7-8 year old version of phpbb that someone doctored the vouch stuff into. You can't just (tar) ball that up and easily move it and I'm betting the reasons we've never seen encryption or phpbb upgrades is for lack of being able to do it without breaking the custom code.


The irony here is that the "new" site appears to be a very customized version of Dolphin. Stick with the open source dolphin and it can be moved anywhere, to almost any host, but requires some technical chops to run. Pick a turnkey host (what seems to be happening)? It's cheap and they probably handhold and they lock your shit into that platform forevermore. So you stop doing upgrades and it gets more expensive and then you can't move it.
