There're a couple of things missing in the posts to which you respond, besides knowledge. When the Service is tasked with planning a foreign motorcade trip it begins weeks, if not months prior to the scheduled event with the route THOROUGHLY examined, scoured, and "VETTED" and coordination and planning with their "counterparts" in the country in which the trip is made.
The second, and in this instance equally important, there is AIR COVER! Even General Patton knew the importance of AIR COVER in Europe.
A third element with respect to "planning" is the ground transportation vehicles for the POTUS as well as staff and assigned media who are in the motorcade, which are transported by air carriers to the area and prepared for the trip AFTER the ROUTE IS ESTABLISHED AND SECURED with U.S. air cover in place to assure the air space and ground space along the route are clear.
A few things were LEARNED by the Service when Kennedy was assassinated and that was in Dallas, Texas.
Of course, one would have to have been conscious during that day and subsequently to appreciate the aftermath and "lessons learned" at the expense of a much loved Man. Also, part of the conscious awareness would include a working knowledge of the pre-Trip preparation even back then.
With all the alleged hate and resentment generated by the Liberals/Anti-Never Trumpers against Trump over the past 2-3 years with posed beheadings, burnings, lynchings, and professed desires to bomb the White House it is ridiculous for anyone to whine and criticize the Service (or anyone) for not engaging in risky business that puts the lives of innocent people at risk of death or worse.
The criticism of Trump in this case is purely spurious hype.
The disgusting part about the media ridicule of Trump (from which many nonmedia pundits get their ammo!) in this decision IS there are media reps assigned to these trips, who are directly and personally familiar with the pre-trip preparations, screenings, and vetting by security forces in order to assure THAT ALL MEMBERS OF THE CARAVAN ARE SAFE, which includes their own personnel.
