Everything Old is New Again
Way back in the dark ages, before, let's say, 1990, while there was an early internet, there wasn't this big commercial EZ-to-use-with-browser-software thing, available to all, as there is today. And somehow, back then when Georgie Washington was a-tryin' to eat cherry pie with his wooden false choppers, and Julius Caesar was insufficiently aware of the ides of March, and teevee wasn't even digital yet, I believe that ladies and gentlemen with the inclination, the willingness, and the resources were getting together somehow to make mutually beneficial exchanges. After all, it is called "the oldest profession," which tells me that sex work predates even telephone marketing -- and that does go way back, no?
So, even if this online community does disappear, along with other similar ones, I'm fairly sure that demimonde life will go on. But it will be much less convenient; it will be more expensive for the "consuming" side of the transaction; and it will be either less remunerative or less safe (sadly, maybe both) for the producing side. And if that happens, it'll be a real shame, both to those who did it, and to the rest of us who allowed them to do it.
And it still may not happen, if the Supremes ("Stop! In the Name of Love!") decide to give a tiny little bit of respect to the text of the constitution that they, and all other government parasites, claim to revere. Anything's possible, I suppose, however unlikely it might seem.
Meanwhile, if I may sneak in a little tiny wrong-forum thought: it has greatly surprised me to see how many people involved in "this," on both sides of The Great Transaction, express what I would call "conventional" political views. If this describes you, I'd like to recommend a few minutes' reflection on the trustworthiness of Great Big Government ... whether as a dispenser of social security and health care and universal education, or as a dispenser of policing and armies and navies and "defense" contracts and regime change, visited violently on whatever odd-speaking foreigners offend us this week. If it can give it to you, it can take it (and more) from you. And whatever it does to them "furriners," it can do to you.
And will.

Yeah, the whole TER site always had a bad smell to me. I wrote a couple of reviews to post there, at the ladies' specific request, and both times my original submission was rejected for not having enough "explicit details." The first time this happened, I just turned up the "Penthouse Letters" knob a few notches, and got it published. The second time, I was a little ticked, and I openly made fun of them in my revised version ... "OK, boys, get the kleenex out, here comes the hard-core grindo-porno part ..." And they posted that, even with what I thought was some blatantly obvious sarcasm and ridicule. Now that I think of it, I wonder if TER's business model is (or was!) based on two revenue streams: ad revenues coming from sex workers, and paid premium access from guys who basically wanted some text accompaniment to wax the carrot by. Either way ... as childish and misogynistic as this place often seems, TER makes it look good.
[Added by edit] Two other bad things about TER: they won't let you review the same woman twice, no matter how long it's been. And, unless you have their version of premium access, you can't read the entirety of even reviews that you wrote! At least ECCIE always lets you read your own work, even between premium access periods. Yeeeesh.

Yea, it was called they'd advertise in local papers that had adult sections, and the like.. Or (like i saw plenty of times in the UK back in 98-03) put up those card stock fliers (like some have said vegas also does these days)..

I always hated graphic reviews. Everyone is always so concerned about discretion yet you're going to write a super in depth piece of what happened? No thanks.
