Default A sheriff who 'gets it'...

Who is ultimately responsible for YOUR safety?

YOU are!

Sheriff in Florida offered similar. To critics he simply asked, " you have a better idea, Einstein? "

Columbine was almost 20 years ago, and would have been much worse had there not been multi-agency special operations training ongoing nearby in which teams were training with each other.

In between there have been schools, malls, theaters, outdoor concerts, and at least one marathon attacked.

Ask everyone over 40 who says anything the same question, or ask them ...

"Where the fuck have you been during the last couple of decades?"

This is a great idea........IF.

That big if is are citizens willing to take gun ownership and the responsibilities that go with seriously.

I shoot a lot, both rifles and handguns. We have several indoor ranges on the North and East Side, as well as many large outdoor rings.

A trip to any of the local indoor range will more times than not make you take pause. You see people who are perfectly legal to own and carry a firearm behaving like children with a new toy.

When I took my Concealed Carry Class, (I no longer have a permi), the shooting portion was an absolute joke. Stevie Wonder could pass that.

We live in a world we're a good many trained Police Officers are barely competent with a weapon. I know some of them. It's scary.

Real life is not a video game. Once you decide to point a firearm at another person, you can't hit reset.

I fear that far too many have no idea what it means to do that.

This worries me. Soldiers and police freeze up. Teachers.....

I do want to believe the teachers who died protecting students would have the courage to do the necessary and pull the trigger before they had to die

Maybe that's something they can DO in schools... Teach firearm safety classes...

The leftists will never accept the obvious solution to the issue of school shootings as it is contrary to their goals of disarming America.

APD: Man involved in Albuquerque shooting saved woman and her daughter

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque Police are calling one man a hero after he opened fire in the middle of a busy intersection Sunday evening, breaking up and preventing a possible double homicide.

Monday night, APD released new details about the gunfight that broke out Sunday in the middle of Gibson, near Yale.

Officer Simon Drobik said around 5 p.m., a woman was driving her daughter to the airport when her estranged husband, Qian Ming, 66, intentionally crashed his truck into hers.

According to APD, Ming then got out of his vehicle and fired a couple of rounds into the wife’s truck, striking his daughter on the shoulder.

At that time, Officer Drobik said a 34-year-old Good Samaritan pulled up to what he thought was a crash. He witnessed Ming beating his daughter with a gun in the middle of the street.

“Once he started walking up, he saw that there was a male violently pistol-whipping a female in the street,” Officer Drobik said. “He got out of his vehicle and had his firearm on him and told that male to stop.”

That’s when the Good Samaritan, who is not being named at this time because he’s currently not facing any charges, told police Ming pointed the gun in his direction.

Police say the man then fired at least one shot, hitting and killing Ming.

“Mom in the hospital said, ‘He saved our lives,'” Officer Drobik said. “You can’t get a stronger statement than that. So she knew it. Daughter knows it and good thing he took that type of action.”

Officers did detain the man for questioning. He was released later that night. Officer Drobik said the man is a 12-year veteran of the National Guard.

Police did not say if the reason Ming’s estranged wife and daughter were headed to the airport was to get away from him.

The daughter is still in the hospital but is expected to be okay.

Damn WTF, you are becoming more dense by the hour.
Only somebody like yourself would state something like that.
We protect prisoners better than we protect school children.

We SHOULD see a lot more of that, but the LSM won't air those stories.. CAUSE IT doesn't further their mantra of GUNS = EVIL...

My guess is that every sheriff but those in major metropolitan areas would recommend the average adult citizen has access to a gun and knows how to use it.
