I would distinguish between pimps and agents, though a simplistic definition might lump them together. A true pimp is a pure parasite, while an agent is a middleman that a professional indy willing to provide for her own prospecting, screening, and accommodations, might get by without while others might find those services worth the cost.

It's a fair point. I think largely the definition comes down to who has control.

Does she have exclusive authority over who her clients are, when she works, where she works, and what services are offered?

Is he* involved only in the administrative and promotional activities or does he have some involvement in the appointments themselves? (e.g., monitoring them in some way, "security", etc.)

Would there be harassment if she decided to do without those services or could she "fire" him at any time of her choosing?

What happens to the money? Does she control it and give him a commission, or does he control it and give her an "allowance".

Is he physically and/or mentally abusive of her?

* I'm using the pronouns 'he' and 'him' for simplicity. The agent or pimp could be a woman.

Interesting survey--- just the word "pimp" has a lot of negativity surrounding it....Spanky can say you have some interesting thoughts!!! My major concern about "pimp or agent" is "NO" physical or mental abuse can be tolerated!!

From what I have been exposed to in the brief 5 years I have been in the hobby is that they are just scum that take half or more of a girls earnings. I think they keep girls "supplied" "with what they need". As with everything there are probably good things as well as bad things with a pimp

I think the issue is some of these girls have no means to obtain credit to purchase cars, homes, etc. So they hook up with a "pimp" to provide them the transportation, place to stay, their choice of "pain killers" and will provide some sense of someone that "really" cares about them, maybe even providing them a few kids along the way to later abandon.

Middle man my ass.

PS: if they are no harm just be upfront and advertise you are pimped or have a "manager", "agent" lol agent, surely no one will care if its no big deal.

I'm about as new to the hobby as 1 can be but I can still say for fact,If I'm giving someone the $ I'm making it's by choice & chances are it's to cover something such as splitting a location,that said I don't have any personal experience or knowledge to form an opinion that isn't based on stereotyped rumors/word of others mouths. I have no intentions in finding out personally either,that'll be the day I quit

Eons ago way before I started using eccie or p411 I used an agency (truth be known 1 unsavory "lady" several)1st provider I met was on sissap She used to work for this female & called her to say I was ok Found she asked for 60% of fee Same anciy sent 4-5 piss poor providers in a row after 1st

Taxation is theft,
whether it be a paycheck or taxing that ass. If slavery is taxation at 100% -minus room and board, scraps to eat and a beating-then taxation at 90%, 65% or 50% is just degrees of said slavery...but with better accommodations and eats. Fuck that, it ain't 1864.
