Try telling someone it's a hyphen, not a dash. Or call a business whose radio ads give a URL with a "dash" in it, and tell them you've been looking all over your keyboard for the dash key but can't find it.

My issue is when someone is reading numbers and says O. It’s zero, not O.

People also say "effect" when they mean "affect" and "principal" when they mean "principle". Precision in spoken English is already a thing of the past and precision in written English is not far behind. Going to the nearest lake and trying to stop the tide from coming in would not be a less productive use of your time.

That's a common colloquialism. No one say it's 5 zero 2 in the morning. We all say it's 5 o'clock or 5 o 2.

When has a nurse ever taken a baby's tempature and said he has a 1 zero 2 tempature. The say 100 and 2 degrees or 1o2.

Ever catch your self saying, "I'm doing good", instead of "I'm doing well", which is grammatically correct?

Can I instead of May I? How many times in 2nd grade did we hear, "I don't know, can you?" from a teacher when we asked permission to go to the restroom.

Didn't we also learn it was rude to correct anyone but small children for using poor grammer?

Colloquial speech is perfectly fine most of the time.

This is a fucking hooker board, after all.
For every 1 here that is truly using it as a stepping stone to get to a more accepted and higher regarded profession, there are 100 that are just here.

Suffering from self righteous indignation might temporarily make the person feel superior, but usually causes more suffering.

I don't know, I think I'd rather be happy than show off that I'm right.

Here's a big one in hooker board land---

Discrete vs. Discreet--- they aren't interchangeable.

I agree with you.

Now.

Back when I was new, during the aspd days, I was one of the first ladies to bitch about grammar, etc.

I was crucified for it during the time. But then, complaining about grammar became a "thing" and it's a trend that I no longer care about.

Let people make their mistakes and just "be." Makes it easier to figure out who I might get along with best.

However, I do cringe a little bit when I see really overt issues like the example Grace gave above. I'm no longer that great with grammar, though.

Just had to pull out the old Strunk and White book just a few months back for a little refresher.

Yes, but men here like to be discreet about their discrete tastes in pleasure.

To many of us a woman that can speak and write well is extremely sexy.

It's not the first thing that catches my eye. Well, sometimes it is.

But the inability (when it's their first language) is often the thing that puts ladies on my do-not-see list.
