Republican candidates in 2018 are on the horns of a dilemma. Trump's latest approval rating is at 36%. Among noncollege-educated white voters who made up a big portion of the Trump base, his approval rating dropped from 59% to 49%.

So does a Republican candidate in a state that could swing in either direction support the policies of an unpopular President or try to go in a less controversial direction? Gillespie in Virginia did not support all of Trump's initiatives but supported him on immigration and some other issues. And what does Trump do after Gillespie lost? Threw him under the bus.

Bahahahahah stop talking about this guy like his a kid. I doubt anyone set him up but if they did, that doesn't alleviate what happened. They didn't force him to set up a meeting, they didn't force him to take the meeting, they didn't tell him to say he wanted the dirt they offered in the email and they he wanted to get it later in the year for effect, and they didn't force him to hint at a quid pro quo. Oh and they didn't force him to lie about it for a year and write up a statement that was a lie. But nice try.

The thing that will happen is that more and more Republicans in swing states and districts will have to decide if they stay and appeal to the Trump base to win the primaries and increase the risk of losing in the general. Or don't and face losing in the primary. And the odds are they will probably just not run for reelection. It happened again yesterday in NJ with a representative from a swing district saying he didn't come to Congress for this and he won't run again. That is now another possible flip.

Trump won by taking away democrat voters. Gillespie wasn't that talented.

Funny they can understand that when they boycott.

You can't tell a person what they boycott means. And you can't tell people what insults them. It's not insulting all patriots because all patriotic Americans don't agree that it's insulting. And the players have said what they are boycotting, social injustice. Yet you want to call them liars. And you tell them what their intentions are. How wise of you to tell these men what they are boycotting and the intentions they have. Funny, you would flip your shit if someone did the same for you.

And you don't have the right to tell a person when and where they protest. That's their right. There is no rule against them doing it. They are calling for equity in our country, which everyone should want. It's a peaceful protest. They have the support of many vets. So it's not insulting vets. And when and where would you like them to protest?

The the sad thing about this is people like you losing your shit over players kneeling during the anthem as a protest, telling them to stop and do it somewhere else. Yet y'all won't call out white supremacist marching in the streets because, hey that's their right. And a person like me, who says the players and the white supremacist both have the right to protest. And what the white supremacists are protesting is horrible and violent and I still recognize their rights. I guess it's another instance of #gtbw
Okay then. You tell me. Why have the broadcasters stopped airing the beginning of games?

Trump won some Democrats but he also benefited from lower turnout among certain voting blocs. He has now antagonized those blocs so much that they came out and voted hard against him. The VA results wasn't just some small victory, he destroyed Gillespie.

What does broadcasters airing the beginning of games have to do with why they are protesting and if all vets are insulted? That's dumb. Maybe they don't want to incur the "wrath" of Trump and his people. But that has nothing to do with the reason for the protest, which is social injustice. And the fact that it isn't insulting all vets because vets are coming out in support of it and saying they have no issue with it.

Virginia is a blue state. It went for Shrillary. No great loss. Same for New Jersey. Christie was a fluke.

Again, what does brands talking about pulling ads have to do with the post that you commented on? It wasn't about profits or ads. It was in response to your bullshit about insulting all patriotic Americans. Because as stated, that's a lie and idiotic since there are plenty of vets who support the protest. Ergo you are saying those vets don't exist or they aren't patriotic because you used the word ALL. And the protest aren't insulting vets because as every player has said, it's not a protest about vets, the flag or the anthem. It's a protest about social injustice. So it's a lie to say that it's about vets when it's been said time and time again it's not.

Stop trying to post articles about profits/ads as proof when talking about right and wrong. Because you get in murky water there. Because these same companies aren't pulling ads when players are assaulting him. These same companies aren't pulling ads when Fox News has person after person being accused of sexual assault and paying settlements. They only care about their bottom line. They don't care about who is doing what and for what reason.

Virginia is a purple state that is definitely going blue. But Northam outperformed Hillary. Also the last governor race was a 3 point victory, this was almost a 9 point victory. That's a big jump. And there were big jumps of Democratic votes in the suburbs too.

Yeah NJ is a blue state. But you are pretending like that's all that happened. The House of Delegates in VA could become Democratic controlled after recounts. Which the Republicans held control of since 2001 and held a huge advantage in the number of seats. That's gone now. Maine passed a Medicad expansion which took that power away from their Republican governor. Maybe read the news and see how many elections nation wide were won by Democrats last night. You can pretend that it was some small thing but I guarantee you that those Republicans running in 2018 are gonna rethink how much they want to be associated with Trump.
