it really has taken NASA 11 years to develop a parachute
https://arstechnica.com/science/2017...ut-spaceflight
NASA's acting chief technologist says the agency is limited by political emphasis.
its all due to politics? I call bullshit on that.

Isn't that something? Took them 11 years to build a parachute, but they can put a man on the moon, a Rover on Mars and a International Space Station orbiting the Earth in excess of 300 miles, no problem, lol.

First they didn't do all that in 11 years, but I'm glad to see you don't believe that their exploration of space has been a conspiracy of events filmed in a studio someplace by the government. As for the ISS, that's been a "collusion" with the Russians, who are still colluding with the U.S. government to provide ingress and egress to and from the ISS, and most particularly resupply and "life boat" technology.

In defence of the contractor, a parachute is something that has to work, every time. There is no backup.
It does no good to spend billions on high tech items to leave earth, go somewhere else, and return if the whole thing ends up as a pile of junk after hitting the earth at a destructive velocity.

Are you trying to prove its "authenticity"?
But I suppose a more fundamental question to you would be:
Are you challenging THE FACT that the Russians have been an integral partner in the construction and operation of THE ISS?
If there were an emergency on the ISS today the "life boat" is Russian made, Russian monitored, and Russian controlled to landing. The last crew were delivered by a Russian launch of a Russian spacecraft. That's because Obaminable decided he'd rather piss of money on "green projects" rather than "squander" it on the "fossil fuel" driven ISS .... you know ... those gasoline engines and generators that keep it going!!!!

I asked who took the picture. It would be much easier for you to just say you don't know.

Who took the picture is not relevant to the discussion.

The picture IS RELEVANT to the general topic of NASA and the development of technology with respect to NASA's general mission.
But the precise member of ISS crew #39 ("Expedition") who took it is NOT.
It's also RELEVANT to the discussion of "Russian Collusion"!!!!!
Because Expedition 39 was on the ISS in the beginning of Obaminable's 2nd term.

You can't see the picture of the ISS is a rendering?
