Exclamation The Eclipse in the USA on Monday.

https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/...2017-august-21

Enter your zip code to find the optimum time and direction to view the Eclipse.

It will not be completely dark but it will be pretty dark, almost like dawn or dusk.

I have my bags of stakes and silver bullets ready.

I've seen horror movies and alien invasion movies that started with Eclipses.

I was about to start the same topic! Well, sort of.

But my topic was going to be how at find any of those glasses that we need to wear to protect our eyes (at this late date).

On Amazon, Walmart.com, and online I'm just not seeing any of those glasses available

Any suggestions? (I'd like 2 pair and ideally, 4)

I really don't want to make any of those homemade boxes, or those other contraptions, to provide safety for my eyes. But I'll do it if I have to.

Love looking at the sky, moon and stars. It's a habit that I do even without an eclipse!

Thanks for starting this topic. It's a really great one!

Warmest regards,
Elisabeth

If you do buy some of these glasses, make sure they're of good quality. I believe I saw a headline recently (I can't recall where) that there were some imitations out there that are low quality and don't really provide the protection you need. This is not where you want to cut corners. I'm not an expert, I just want people to be safe.

Actually, reading about the fake glasses being sold on Amazon is what made me realize that I need some of those!

Now, a lot of those glasses (the good ones) are being sold for hundreds of dollars when you do a cursory search.

Found an article that said some 7-11's and libraries (free at libraries in some US places) will have them. I'm not much on shopping, or 7-11's, but I might check that out at some point in the next few days.

Otherwise, I'll have to figure out a Plan B.

Thanks for the input!!!

NASA has more info on the glasses:

https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/safety

Here's a list of manufacturers that was approved by NASA

https://eclipse.aas.org/resources/solar-filters

Or if you can't get any glasses, there is always the old pinhole in a cardboard and a mirror method,

at the bottom of the following page under the heading

I can't find any glasses, however you can use a welding mask, as long as it's rated at a 12 or above. I found one at Northern Tools on sale for $39.99. Hope this helps!

Well, I hope everyone made it through the eclipse.

No one here burned out their retinas and corneas by staring directly at the eclipse without wearing safe glasses.

No one here turned into werewolves and vampires and Lycans or worse, brain eating zombies.

For those who missed it or if it was too cloudy where you were.

This page contains a good video of it.

This page contains an interactive graphic of the path of the eclipse.
