I am not going to argue that the meds they use are the right treatment, but ADHD is NOT a "fake condition". People can see a broken limb or skin lesions so they believe they are real. They can't see brain/mind/emotion related abnormalities so they too often decide since it doesn't happen to them, it isn't real.
