Default I Lost my sweet baby a few days ago

Has anyone ever lost a pet that they just struggled getting over? I realize to some people pets aren't what they are to others. I get it. I used to be one of those people. But not this time. Sunday I lost my 8yr old Dachshund, 8lbs and just the sweetest thing ever! Here I am, 49, 6ft tall muscle head, and I'm crying like a baby every few hours. Still! After 4 days. Feels like this shit will never end.
At this point, I don't wanna hear some BS like "she's in doggy heaven looking over you " or "she's in a better place now" F that crap!! I want my baby back! Can someone please tell me they can relate?
This little girl was so special! I have 4 other dogs that I love, but not like I did her. Any of them could have passed away and I'd be fine! What to do?

My heart goes out to you. I had to put my best friend down that i had for 17 yrs. It was the hardest thing ive ever had to do. There's not a day that doesn't go by that i dont think about him. Every year we would take pictures of him and I in the fileds of blue bonnets. Now that their out in full bloom i drive by as i remember the last time we took pics together. As tears start right now let me tell you it will get easier. It won't be easy though. Call me if you ever want to talk.

Feel you bro. All dogs, in fact, do go to Heaven. Gotta give it time.

I can relate for sure.. I had a weenie dog for many years. They are a special breed with personalities. I too still miss him. I have a lab now that is nearing her last days. We have hunted and been together for 13 years. I know the time is short. I feel your pain sir..

Sorry you lost your dog man. That hurts. Dogs are family and wonderful to have around. I know how it feels. Two years ago I lost my wonderful loving Chocolate Lab. I brought him home when he was 6 weeks old. Had 12 great years with him.

A dear friend of mine was virtually homeless, unemployed etc, but she spent every moment and what little money she had searching for her dog that she had lost as part of her personal struggles. Good news, they were reunited.

My message is they are just like family - sometimes better in that they always love us unconditionally.

So sorry for your loss - we're on our 3rd round of critters, so I've been where you are twice before.

Sorry you lost your baby. I will do anything for the two I have. Time is the only thing that will work and then it really never goes away completely.

Lost my girl recently to cancer. What really pissed me off was how soon people started sending me links to available dogs because they looked like her. "Forget grieving! Here's a dog to remind you of the one you just lost after 13 years"..... Dafuq?!

I lost my puppy about 4 years ago. He was just shy of 17. At that age he lasted longer than both marriages combined. I haven't gotten over it yet. People say "you need another dog" I just can't get myself to make that commitment. My heart goes out to you. It's hard to lose the best friend you ever had.

Sending warm thoughts to you Dallas_Texan. The animal lovers amongst us have most likely been through what you're experiencing. Over time the memories tend to soften the hurt & allow you to smile about the time you had with your pet.

Best wishes!

I too, as others, have been in your shoes. And let me tell ya, those damn shoes hurt! It is hard to deal with, but deal with it we must. No shame in tears, as my best friends are far better then most people. I know it is cliche, but time does help heal, tho the wound is always there, as well as the ache. But for me, I have found what helps is that I remember them every day, and when the time is right, I go let another rescue me. And rescue me they do, while I take the best possible care of them. That is also what helps, and motivates me, is that I am able to bring a friend into my home, and give them a wonderful life, while they give my life meaning, as family, as a friend.

OMGosh! Thank you thank you thank you to everyone! It feels so good to know I'm not alone and that y'all have empathy and sympathy! I struggled whether or not to post here bc of how cruel people tend to twist things here and be ugly about things. However, everyone's been so nice. So from my heart, thank y'all so much!
Y'all's stories mean the world to me! So please, keep them coming. Tell me everything you can about how ur sweet baby slept by ur head every night! Tell me how much you loved it when u walked in the house everyday to greetings from those sweet furry little guys and gals! I wish I could post a pic of my girl (We called her "The Baby" mostly bc she was the baby of our klan, and that out of all our dogs, she was truly our baby) but I can't bring myself to look at any pics yet cause it just hurts too bad right now.
I try to be a realist in life, and I know time heals wounds, but GD it sure don't feel like it's ever gonna stop. Both my SO and I just keep looking at each other crying, and wondering how we're gonna get thru this. But again, yalls stories, understanding and empathy are a big part of my healing I believe.
Let me just tell y'all about this sweet baby of mine. I must! And I'll try and make it quick. We brought her home about 8 years ago. At 7 weeks old she weighed less than 1 lb. she was the only pup in the litter that survived. Then her momma rejected her. She was put in a litter of Chihuahua puppies and that momma helped raise her. We kept her up by our head every night and rotated nights in getting up to take her out to pee. Had to give her special food with extra protein in it to help her grow. You could literally see her organs thru her tummy she was so small and thin. She never left up by our heads in bed at night since. She always got in our way during intimate moments. And she didn't like when we had those moments. Lol! In 8 years, neither me nor my SO became her favorite. It was 50/50 Love for all those years. On the sofa, she was in my lap, in the bed, although near our heads, she fell asleep closer to my wife. And wouldn't let me pull her by me. Neither of us could persuade her to like us better. Again 50/50 Love She was a piebald color, (Google piebald dachshund)super small, and won the cutest dog contest in our town, beating out a cute 3 lb 1 eyed Chihuahua named Digit! She was aQueen, a Diva, and definitely ran the house! She died for no apparent reason!! A sweet, innocent and adorable baby that will be missed!! I Love her, I miss her!! I pray she's watching us knowing all these tears are for her! I hope she knows, and knew how much we loved her! She was the best! And I'd give my life for one more day with her!
I Love You sweet Baby!!
Thanks for hearing me out guys! I'll keep reading y'all's stories Plz tell me about yalls babies!
