Caution Using Loyalty Cards

Be careful if you use a loyalty card your SO has set up.

I stopped in CVS yesterday to pick up a few bottles of a lube I like to keep on hand for appointments. As I was checking out they asked if I had a loyalty card. My SO does and the cashier looked up the number using our home phone.

When I got home a few hours later, my SO said "interesting purchases" and then showed me an emailed receipt listing everything I had purchased.

If I had purchased condoms it would have been pretty ugly.

Don't know what other stores might have the same set up.

I had a similar experience. When I was married, I had taken my FWB to a local motel. A few days later my wife found a Thank You card in the mail. No way to explain that!

That sucks and is another thing that keeps me on edge. Always pay cash and always have a conversation with the clerk. No loyalty clubs, no mailing lists, no correspondence at all.

Last few times I've asked the lady to make the reservations and then I reimburse with cash. Makes things a little easier.

If you are buying hobby related items, shop at another store.

Lot's of stores with loyalty programs will email a copy of the receipt, not just CVS. Just don't use your loyalty card.
