This "LL" didn't say "most people are driving around in someone else's car.'

Just to clarify.

My point on today's thread is that the op that got the ticket...might be doing a disservice to whoever the car is registered to (if it is not him).

Here is what was said previously:

Footnote: i don't know the exact details of the op's situation, but it would be unlikely for me to pay the fine unless I needed to return to that lot.

I recall what I previously posted.

When one speaks the truth it's easier to remember what one says.

There are a lot of reasons to make sure that a transfer of title to the buyer's name is completed and finalized with the county clerk's office, and if one is selling a vehicle with an EZ tag on it just remove the tag when one releases the vehicle to the buyer ... even if the paper work has not be processed at the Clerk's office. Most of the "stories" I hear are someone's BF or GF took the vehicle and won't return it .... and toll fees, parking tickets, etc., are piling up in the name on the registration.

It's always nice to have a notarized bill of sale with all the identifying information of the buyer on it to show those who are trying to dink one for toll fees, parking tickets, etc, .... even hit and run accidents!!!!!!!!!

^^^^ that too. Seams like there is only a handful of them. Two i see globally.

That might be the best reason for the op to pay it.

Just thinck if he parks in a lot for a session or any reason and comes back to a booted car or no car.

op might wait a year then change his plates.

or just pay it if he owes it....fight it if he doesn't.

"the notice came from a debt collection agency."

Don't pay then because once you do, they will be after you and ask for more of what you originally owed to the original place to make profit. Learned it in accounting 😊 or just what I was told by the professor.

One thing that did happen to someone I know is that they were prohibited from getting the inspections and all that because of not paying. Don't remember if it was a private hardy toll thing or not though.

The law firm contracted to collect past due toll road charges by law must identify itself as a "debt collection agency" .... and the law firm has the authority to negotiate regarding some of the charges or penalties depending upon the factual circumstances, and they also charge attorney fees for the collection. The are legitimate and I wouldn't "ignore" them with all due respect to "the professor"!

Prohibiting one to renew their registration happens.

Makes you wonder why someone wouldn't just get an EZ Tag doesn't it?

It doesn't me .. that's why I'm looking forward to the EZ Tag only tollroads!
