Wondering if I'm an 'upscale gentleman'?
Pretty sure I'm not, but you know - just to have something to shoot for. What are the requirements?

Upscale is a very overused BP term with very little understanding of the actual meaning by most users. I think that one misinformed BP lady after another has copied each other's ads... Generally, it would mean higher quality, not cheap.
It's a lot like inserting the term, "well reviewed." Usually, when you ask them where their reviews are, they can't come up with anything. It just sounds good in the ad.

Since the technical definition is 'relatively expensive and designed to appeal to affluent consumers,' the term upscale more accurately applies to the provider rather than the client... But like I said, it's misused.

Very true...I see ads all over the place saying "well reviewed" with no linkage to any review sites. As you said, I guess it just sounds good, and people don't think too critically about it.

Most providers ( not pointing out anyone ) are fairly well versed at insertions so putting those terms in their ads is second nature. Which is why it is better to just read reviews yourself instead of looking at the ads. We can call ourselves "upscale" or anything we want honestly. It is when you allow other people's opinions to shape your perception of yourself is when you have to say "f**k the b**lls**t" and just do your own thing.
I prefer to call myself a dirty old man. It is old school but I like it.

Don't get too caught up in terms or labels. As long as you pay the rate asked, show up on time, and are respectful then you'll have zero problem. Most terms are used to fluff up ads

I think I didn't do a very good job making clear that the OP was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. I don't care if I'm called an upscale gentleman, I just thought it was funny that so many ads (not here but on BP and the like) say it.
I do believe in all the stuff Danielle said though: "pay the rate asked, show up on time, and are respectful". If that makes me an upscale gentleman, so be it!

I would add: and be clean when you show up or get that way quickly after. None of this is rocket science.

Absolutely...should go without saying. But I guess for some, it doesn't.
