TOR IP addresses blocked by admin
In the last week or so, multiple TOR IP addresses have been blocked by Eccie administrators. It appears to be about 50/50 to be able to connect to Eccie via TOR.
Since this is a security issue, could some of the site staff or moderators reveal why this has happened?

Perhaps cause site admin does want user ip addresses so that board policies can be enforced when members need that.

Some are probably being used to create multiple ID's or to spam the board.

My ECCIE Reviews
|
TOR and VPNs are used to safely come to these sites. Banning them creates an unsafe situation for us, the users, as well as ECCIE, if they really stop and think about it. I understand the difficulty in dealing with trolls and such, but the safety of the greater community really should come first.
I have been recently advised that there is a no VPN policy, although I cannot find it anywhere. If there is, you'll all be seeing a lot less of me.

Privacy matters
Any user of this site should assume, since Tor is being blocked, that this site, and therefore any and all users, are now "owned" by law enforcement. There is nothing, zero, nada protecting you from surveillance, or more nefarious actions, here. They are free to do whatever they want.
Bear that in mind as you read about those being charged with trafficking for writing reviews on another site.
Cheers and adieu!

I think it totally sucks that ECCIE is blocking TOR browsers. It's a pain in the ass but I can still get around giving ECCIE my IP address and location. It doesn't make any sense that eccie would block TOR. It makes you wonder who else is viewing our info. Or who is forcing them to see our info. Something to think about.

Hate to tell you, but le can and has cracked TOR. Its more difficult but can be done if needed. given enough motivation, le can track you down reguardless of what you do. The question is always are you worth it?

LE has not cracked TOR. MAYBE the NSA...but only by running both entry and exit nodes and monitoring traffic on both sides.
A VPN account purchased anonymously is my preference. If you're extra paranoid, you can combine VPN with proxies for added layers of security.

There is also a very good chance that if you are using WiFi hot spots that the ISP has supplier blocked many TOR ips and/or just denies outbound access to adult sites due to actual or perceived security issues. Or to maybe kids might be using the wifi?
Or, perhaps the TOR itself is not blocked but the destination IP comes through and is blocked as an adult site. I get that all too frequently at some hotels and also at certain restaurants, bars and even a Krispy Kreme recently.

As I said before, use a different bridge.
If you are having trouble at Hotspots use a PT, plugable transport, I like Stego and Meek. Meek has better support but Stego has http and https inerchange Scramble suit is pretty cool and guards against that so called tracking a poster eluded too. It's a finger print change between NODS.
The guys at Carnegie did recieve 25 million to work on tracing TOR and did have a method. Like all things we came up with a work around.

imo, unless a person is engaging in trafficking or underage activities, none of us here has much to fret about in terms of the authorities intercepting our board traffic.
LE doesn't waste resources on ordinary hobbying that way.
For those terribly paranoid, get a burner phone with unlimited data and use the cellphone network.

I agree that the Tor blocking is annoying. It's something ECCIE is doing, because other sites like p411 work beautifully with Tor.
It literally comes up and says something like, "This IP address has been blocked by the administrator."
At that point you have to refresh your Tor connection to pick up a new connection. What's really weird is that it seems as if ECCIE is actively blocking Tor when detected. More than once I have gotten a good connection, and then in the middle of browsing around received an error that my IP was now banned.

I'd like to request that the admins please unblock Tor.
Tor is an excellent tool for security and anonymity which are of primary importance in the hobby.
Prohibiting Tor means that eccie users will have to reveal their home or office IP addresses which can be usually traced back to them and which will make them a weak link.
I can understand that trolls may abuse Tor but this is no different than trolls abusing unmasked IP addresses and should be treated as such.
Thank you!
