Nurburgring Part 2
I am very upset and angry about the testing done by the track technicians at Nurburgring
The arrogant dumb technicians at Nurburgring decided that my car flexed too much and was overpowered for the overall frame strength. WRONG WRONG WRONG. They asked me to take the car around the track and keep it under 100 MPH till I reached the final long straight away. Where they wanted me to give it all I could safely do. I came around the last sweeping right hand curve in a slight drift at 120 and accelerated till I ran out of space. The track officials said that they clocked me at 194.5 MPH. They put my car on a dymo and tested the torque and HP rating and came up with a 874 HP and 920+ Ft Pounds of torque. They said my car would not stand up to the combination of torque, g forces and track conditions because in their opinion the frame is too weak to handle the stress. I told them they were all wet and showed them the design specs, the material specs and the build sheet, and mentioned that I have a Masters in M.E., and definitely know more about the engineering and construction of the frame than anyone there.
The build sheet showed:
I used 4340 steel drawn over mandrel 2” round tubing throughout. The frame is a design by a German engineering firm that does work on formula cars and is designed to handle up to 1000 HP. All joining pieces were machined to be an exact fit, ie: no gaps to fill with welding. Mig welding performed by specialists using argon gas and critical stress point joints were x-rayed.
All of this means that it is the strongest steel for this application and yes it will flex but will not break so long as I don’t hit a tree or another car.
This is all so much Arrogant German Bull Shit. Since I was so mad I was not very polite about it in fact I got pretty damn ugly about it. My NASCAR buddy had to drag my ass out of the office while I tried to think of German cuss words to yell at them- all that came out was “Arschloch” x 25 (ask DG) I think my talking down to them sealed the deal (I do know better) so that was that. They would not budge and refunded my small fee for entry. I will rent a Cayman and run 3 laps on Fri the 25th
I have long wanted to buy a Rezvani Beast X (X model is 700HP) so I put a for sale sign on the car and have 2 parties that are interested. I think I will be able to sell the Cobra Replica for more or about the same as the Rezvani so I placed my order-it is just time to move on to something else and let someone else enjoy the Cobra and because I have a bad taste in my mouth about it…. I am negotiating with the 2 parties or rather they are bidding against each other which is very good for me. I must wait patiently ( Whatever the Hell that is) for my new car to be built about 3 months and then about another month to have it shipped from California to Spain. I could have it air freighted for an additional $???K but probably will not do that.
It will take a long time for me to get my head on straight about this fiasco and those stupid, arrogant, hardheaded, uneducated, shitheads at the track but I will just have to move on. I will load the Cobra in my trailer if it doesn’t sell here and head back to Andorra, and do my best to think about something else.--Like Andrea, Vicki, Bella, Angelina etc.

What drivetrain is in said Cobra?
How did they come to the conclusion the chassis flexed excessively?
Why put so much time & effort, to only get rid of of after being turned down at Nurburgring, when there are many other fantastic tracks around the world?

I have "re-engineered" the drive train several times, It has a Corvette 6 speed out of an wrecked ZO8 Vette.
They said they filmed it and measured the flex at the beginning of the last straightaway. I was in 4th doing 7600 rpm and when I shifted to 5th they said the front end twisted "excessively" I could see that they had their minds made up and I started reading them the riot act, and questioning their technical expertise. I did try to get them to put it up on a lift and inspect the joints in the welded frame but by then they were mad at me and refused.
I am selling it not really because of the disappointment there as I kinda hinted. I have spent 14 years building and refining it. NO WAY is is coming apart due to ant factor except a collision. I recognized a lot of interest and advertised it as a 200 MPH car, which it is and believe I will get around 185,000 euros for it, which is actually a little more than I have in it.
My real reason is because I want the Rezvani Beast and have wanted one for some time and because I am a spoiled 13 YO in an old man's body and finally after years of living a very spartan life I can now do whatever I please.
The Rezvani is based on the Arial Atom but enclosed in a carbon fiber and interior, it is wider than the Arial and will have a 700 HP supercharged Ford 5 liter engine. It is approved to race at any track while it is still street legal. It does not have any skid control enhancements of any kind -neither does the Cobra- so it will be driving by the seat of my pants which I really like. I am an adrealine junkie. I love acceleration and flying around curves, I raced on the street years and years ago but don't try that now because there is no room for such foolishness. Finally the Rezvani has the look of a super car, the acceleration, the style without spending a million dollars. My only wish is that I could'a been a young man now, cause the damn thing is a chick magnet. The Cobra is also BTY.
Finally I have decided not to drive at all Friday and come back after I have the Rezvani and see if I can keep from killing myself. Besides all that my buddy and I are both horny as hell so we will travel on to Barcelona after we put the Cobra in my garage and Do Something about the Blue Balls. Hobby On!

Thanks SoulMan,
here is a video on the Arial with a much smaller engine than the Beast X which I have ordered. Note it is a long video (10 min) but what is impressive is that it not only did better than the 600+ HP Vette it passed 2 motorcycles in the circuit. This video along with info from Rezvani is what sold me on the Beast, BTY it has a 25 gallon fuel cell the Ariel in the video only has a 10 Gallon FS. Fuel consumption will be an issue but it definitely is in the Cobra too. The Beast is built around the Arial but with a wider stance.

BTW I drive pretty slow in the city which I really believe it is sexier (IMO) to go slow in the city so they can see the car. LOL
I have been challenged in the Cobra but they back off when I tell them I will race them for 1000 Euros nothing less.

I should know that however since I am
45% German,
25% Scottish,
20% Norse
10% Catalan,
PLUS
I hold 3 engineering degrees
I am retired US Military O6 and I am used having things my way when I say so.
But most of all when I am 150% sure I am right I am a pretty Damn hard to deal with and generally make things uncomfortable for whoever disagrees with me.
I have also decided to keep the Cobra Replica-don't really need to sell it-just need to figure out how to drive both cars at once.
Extending my stay in Europe and will try to "do" every good looking provider money can buy, and there are Plenty of Babes here who love to fuck old farts-I mean take their money. Here I don't need references, just money and that is not a problem, only problem So much pussy so little time. LMMFAO

Well German mixed with Scottish makes for an incredible hard head but I seldom start anything that I do not complete.
My degrees all courtesy for the military are M.E., E.E. and O.E. (Ordinance Engineering) and a BA in Archaeology with a minor in History. Now please do not think I am saying I am smart cause I know some really smart people and I am just average at best. Over educated -- I had a lot of free time in the service as I did most of my time stateside in research & development.
As far as being in the military my vision was very poor but I enlisted after being drafted and found a home once I made it to the Officer level..

Were there any C7 Z06 Corvettes around? GM hasn't announced a 'ring time for it.
I know a couple of drivers have hit showroom stock mid 10's in the quarter mile. Several guys have made mid 11 second passes in showroom stock Corvettes both Z51 and coupes. So those cars are a beast in the quarter mile, but I'm not certain how beasty they are on the 'ring.

I didn't hang around the track much after Thursday and Friday is when it is open to the public so to speak. I did talk to a couple of guys who were waiting to run in their Vettes and it seemed that their main concern was not overheating their brakes. Of course they asked me about that on the Cobra but I told them "Hell who uses brakes? Don't you know that'll slow you down?" Sorry I didn't pay attention to what Vette they were running.
I hate running my car in the quarter because that launch is sooooo hard on the drive train so I have not done so. I have rtaced it for a 1/4 with a 40 MPH stomp and Only loose due to driver error on my part. A friend of mine has a factory built 2016 Mustang with a 5 litre supercharged engine and he has run it in the high 8's. He had to take it easy for the first week because Ford failed to send the drag shoot with the car. Ford says it is 800 HP but my friend says it is closer to a 1000. That car is not legal for the street and that is amazing to me cause he paid a little less than 100K for it and he does't have a regular car title for it...now that's insane IMO. That engine with a smaller supercharger is what I have ordered for my Rezvani and it is rated at 700, I am drooling at the thought of getting it but will have to wait (IMPATIENTLY of Course)
I have had a couple PM's about how rough the Rezvani is and how touchy the steering is but my Cobra is also so I don't care. My driving style, as described by my brother, used to be "insane formula one driver". I am much milder now but do love to hang the rear end out on corners and curves and I always accelerate in the curves on the street (where there is room) anyway. My daily driving in the Cobra always includes getting it up to 150-160 again IF I can find room for such foolishness.
