Missouri Owes us Money

Well it appears the city of Kansas City's little scam to charge a 1% earnings tax if you live outside KCMO but work there....... has now been ruled unconstitutional and they will have to pay it back.

Now the headline from this story from Fox4 is incorrect it is not Kansas that owes the money it is Mizery!

I dont know if this applies to peeps that live in another Mizery city but work in KCMO

All you have to do is file an amended return and get that money back for the last 3 years.......fuckin scam artists

This isn't the first time MO try to get away with something that is unconstitutional. They tried the red light cameras but the way they wrote the law concerning the fine was deemed to be unconstitutional. From what I remember reading they wrote the law considering it a non-moving violation but if you got pulled over for the same violation it would be considered a moving violation and that is where they ran into trouble.

I watched that and it is confusing. First they say Kansas may owe you money, then they say Missouri. Can the Kansas City Earnings Tax paid be taken as a credit against the state taxes where you live?

Assuming the States work in their normal fashion, they are not going to process any amended returns asking for this credit without some action by the state legislature. And Kansas doesn't have the money to refund.
