Homosexuality was removed from the DSM, yo.

Start with the personality disorders and play bingo. That's my personal favorite game around here.

Mr. Peabody does not suggest that people suffering from mental illness are less equal than others. As EJL points out, many of us find humor with our own eccentricities. This thread was not aimed at any particular poster here.

Many of the world-changers that I admire were classified as crazy. Edgar Allen Poe, Nikola Tesla, and Vincent Van Gogh come to mind. One of my favorite pieces of literature, Alice In Wonderland, contains many engaging examples of "deviant" behavior. We should celebrate our differences.

As an extension of what the last 2 posters suggested, I wonder if you could attempt to predict the progress of Eccie threads based on the afflictions of the posters involved.

Unfortunately, contrary to the comment of Whispy, some posters do possess the maladies which are exhibited in their posts. I truly empathize with the turmoil they inflict upon themselves.

This is so true. For example, I type in Ebonics at times; yet my speaking voice, not so much.

I wonder what that crock of shit DSM would peg me as.
I get that certain extreme/dangerous behaviors need medical help, but every little quirk is not a basis for drugging people and getting them hooked.

Often times people need to take better care of themselves with better sleep, nutrition, and water; also certainly social & lifestyle changes such as employment, and social affiliations. At most (for these simple quirks like depression shyness phobias ect) a physiatrist or therapist should focus on cognitive behavioral therapy and not pimping people to big pharma.

I have serious claustrophobia; while I'd prefere to be drugged up, I don't like the side effects of the drugs, so I just deal with it and try to overcome the discomfort. Everyone else on the plane seems to handle the close quarters just fine. Then again, the great majority of people in the U.S. are on some kind of psychotropic drug.

I know I might have put off a lot of the people who do use these drugs, but I assure you this is just a personal choice from experience. I happen to be the type of person who takes even a mild antibiotic and gets at least half of the side effects listed. This is why I don't like taking prescription drugs and avoid them at all cost.

1. If they have the word Goddess in their name,, run away
2 . If they use words like chakra .. run away
3 . If they talk about themselves in the third person ...run away
and finally
4. If they have ever been married to me... run away screaming.

Cool Evolution of CRAZY

There seems to be a concept in US popular culture that the definition of Crazy is "Evolving".

People claim that it is Obvious that one type of deviant behavior is "Acceptable" while another anomalistic behavior is "Unacceptable".

Are you perspicacious enough to make this determination independently, without referring to your social network? Because of your vocation or hobby, I suspect several of you have direct experience with some of these afflictions.

Please take this bellwether test to determine how progressive you are. The first Item is an example with the correct answer already given:

1) Concupiscent Pedophilia : Unacceptable

2) Transgender :

3) Suicidal :

4) Necrophilia :
5) Hippopotomonstrosesquippedalio phobia :
6) Slubberdegullion David Duechehurst :

7) Chemical Dependency :

8) Polygamy :

9) Narcissistic personality disorder :

10) Vampirism :

11) Voyeurism :

12) Emetophilia :

13) Cotard Delusion :

14) Coulrophobia :

15) Mimes :

16) Lachanophobia :
17) Automotive Pica :

18) Plushophilia :

19) Bestiality :

Or you need to upgrade your gadget.
BTW is there a diagnosis for this?

I mean I'm guilty of not buying new stuff until the one I'm using is completely broken or obsolete. *shrug

Given time, I'm sure the Supreme Court will rule on every one of them.

"On to the next perversion..."
